You'll cruise to the Falklands archipelago, which consists of some 400 islands, with thousands of birds. Then onto mountainous South Georgia, covered in huge glaciers, scenic fjords and thousands of king penguins on Salisbury Plain. Journeying south you'll finally reach Antarctica itself, where Zodiac boats take you close to the incredible ice and wildlife, and you step ashore onto the frozen continent. Time to explore the `town at the end of the world'. Day 2 Embark Board your ship and set sail for the Beagle Channel. Day 3 Atlantic Ocean Your first day at sea is a chance to get to know your ship and crew. Presentations onboard will prepare you for landings. Day 4/5 Falkland Islands This archipelago is home to friendly locals human or otherwise! Visit Stanley, the only city on the islands, and your last contact with civilisation for a few weeks. Day 6-8 At sea You will notice the temperature drop significantly as you cross the Antarctic Convergence, which separates Antarctica from the rest of the world. Essentials covered in massive glaciers, scenic fjords and alpine peaks, and is a haven for all types of birdlife, including the huge king penguin. Day 12 South Orkney After a day sailing you arrive at South Orkney or Elephant Island (conditions permitting). This is your final stop before you reach the Antarctic. Day 13-17 Antarctic Peninsula As you continue further south you finally arrive at Antarctica itself. Shore landings get you closer to life on this frozen continent. Day 18/19 Drake Passage Head home across the Drake Passage and reflect on the amazing sights you have seen. Day 20 Disembark in Ushuaia. Day 1 Arrive in Ushuaia; overnight in Day 9-11 South Georgia This island is Graded easy. You should be in good health and be able to get in and out of a Zodiac inflatable boat. Onshore walks vary from easy to moderate but all are optional. Please note as weather conditions are changeable your itinerary may differ from the one here.
