Prices are per person and subject to change (see Booking Conditions p194). From Ushuaia, the most southerly city on earth, set sail along the Beagle Channel into Drake Passage. Your destination is the rugged and beautiful wilderness of Antarctica. Followed by wandering albatrosses and storm petrels, feel the anticipation grow, as you catch sight of your first giant iceberg. Step ashore and listen out for the honks of adelie and chinstrap penguins, spot seals lazing on the ice and watch out whales. Discover life at the end of the world. Itinerary Day 1 Overnight in hotel in Ushuaia. Day 2 Embark After spending the abandoned research stations. The icy scenery is spectacular, and the animal encounters add to the spectacle - watch penguins slide on the snow, seals play and whales breach. Then it's on to the rockier South Shetland Islands, home to huge Elephant seals. Day 10/11 Drake Passage Returning across the Drake Passage you have time to learn more about the animals and scenery that will have amazed you the previous few days. Day 12 Return to Ushuaia and disembark. Essentials Graded easy. You should be in good health and be able to get in and out of a Zodiac inflatable boat. Onshore walks vary from easy to moderate but all are optional. The length of this trip may vary due to boat and flight schedules. The cruise will always be the length indicated. Please note as weather conditions are changeable your itinerary may differ from the one here. Day 3/4 Cross Drake Passage Get to know your ship and crew as you travel through the Beagle Channel and across the Drake Passage. Followed on your journey by abundant birdlife, the temperature drops and the excitement rises as you reach the icy wilderness of Antarctica. for shore landings comes as you reach the Antarctic Peninsula itself.
