Day 3 Dambulla Journey inland to Dambulla which will be your base for exploring the `dry zone' over the next few days. Day 4 Sigiriya Rock Today climb the steep pinnacle of Lion Rock at Sigiriya to reach its imposing summit fortress for spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. Day 5/6 Polonnaruwa Spend two days with Dr Wolfgang Dittus and his research team as you get `hands on' tracking monkeys in the ancient, ruined city of Polonnaruwa. Observe the behaviour of torque macaques and gray and purple-faced langurs and learn about the valuable conservation work that the team carry out. Essentials Day 7/8 Kandy Heading south to Kandy, Day 9/10 Nuwara Eliya & Horton Plains Arrive in `Little England' by train you'll visit the Temple of the Tooth and the Dambulla cave temples. A physically undemanding yet busy trip with a mixture of wildlife, culture, activity and relaxation. The heat and humidity can be tiring and be prepared for a few long and winding road journeys.
