Transfer to Calenzana Day 2 Haut Asco You start your trip with and walk to Bonifatu. a long but rewarding walk from Bonifatu to Haut Asco. Day 3 Monte Cinto Today you make an ascent of Monte Cinto, the highest mountain in Corsica (2,706m) and return to Asco for the night. Day 4 Circus of Solitude After traversing the legendary Circus of Solitude, the GR20's hardest section, you descend towards the sheep pastures of Vallone. Day 5/6 Paglia Orba Climb to the Refuge Ciotulu I Mori on Paglia Orba, then descend through forest surrounded by `pozzines' and grazing animals. River to Corte, where you have a free day. Day 9 Capanelle Climb to Bocca Palmente where the view is breathtaking. After passing several sheepfolds you reach Capanelle where you spend the night. Day 10 Monte Renosu Optional walk to the summit of Monte Renosu (2,352m) and on the way down you pass by Bastiani Lake. Day 11/12 Col de Verde From Capanelle you walk to the Plateau of Ghialgone. In the morning you ascend to Prati Refuge. Day 13/14 Basseta/Bavella Long climb to Bocca di L'Usciolu, before you descend towards the sheepfold of Basseta. Then descend to the Asinau Valley and on to Bavella. Day 15 Transfer to Ajaccio. Fly home. Essentials Day 7/8 Corte Walk along the Tavignano Mountain trekking experience is essential and you need to be used to reading and following map instructions. The trekking is between 4-9 hiking hours per day on sometimes difficult trails. The maximum altitude you reach is 2,706m, with the average being 2,000m.
