Itinerary

Cross the Grand Canal in a `traghetto' then wander through the maze of narrow streets, over tiny bridges and along winding canals before relaxing with a gelato in one of the piazzas. Day 3/4 Gubbio Take a cable car up Mt Ingino to the frescoed basilica at its summit. Here, pay respect to the town's patron saint. Day 5/6 Assisi/Spello Travel to the birthplace of St Francis to see Roman temple ruins and the Basilica di San Francesco. bustling cafes, Rome has to be seen to be believed. Day 9/10 Naples Take a walk through the fascinating historical centre of Naples. Perhaps be tempted by a slice in the birthplace of Neapolitan pizza, then continue on to the incredible ruins of Pompeii. Day 11/12 Sorrento Soak up marvellous views of the Bay of Naples from the summit of mighty Mt Vesuvius. Travel onwards to Sorrento and stay in the peaceful town of Sant'Agnello. Day 13/14 Amalfi Hike the `Footpath of the Gods' along the magnificent Amalfi Coast. The walk may be steep but the views are nothing short of spectacular. Day 15 Transfer to Naples airport and fly home. Some easy physical activities included in your trip. No physical preparation is required to make the most of the journey. Summer temperatures can reach up to 40 degrees celsius, which can be uncomfortable for those not used to the heat.
