Though many would like the opportunity to walk high in the Himalaya, some first-time visitors prefer to undertake a shorter and lessdemanding trek. This wonderful trip offers a perfect combination of an easy three-day trek in central Nepal's Annapurna region, sleepy Nepalese villages and the best of Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan National Park. Factfile Essentials Walking is of moderate difficulty (approx. 5-6 hours per day for 3 days), maximum altitude 1260m. Anyone in good health who regularly goes walking should be able to take part. Porters carry main luggage on trek. Transport Minibus, elephant, on foot, canoe, domestic flight Accommodation Hotels (6nts), lodge (2nts), guesthouse (3nts), camping (2nts) Meals included 13 breakfasts, 7 lunches & 7 dinners Itinerary Day 1/2 Overnight flight to Kathmandu. Day 3 Kathmandu The Kathmandu Valley is a fascinating area full of contrasts. Exploring by bike (or vehicle if you wish) you'll visit Durbar Square with its concentration of royal and religious architecture and the sacred temples of Swayambhunath and Pashupatinath. Later you transfer to the one-time capital of Bhaktapur. Day 4/5 Nuwakot & Bandipur Head to the rural village of Nuwakot for a delightful stay in a converted farm house, and then on to Bandipur, another forgotten gem. There is the opportunity for rafting (optional) on the Trisuli river en route. Bandipur's excellent Himalayan views and distinctive Newari architecture make this a wonderful place. Day 6-9 Pokhara & Annapurna Foothills Travelling west you reach the lake-side town of Pokhara. From here you'll enjoy your porter-assisted trek into the foothills a relatively easy Himalayan walk, ideal for the first-time trekker. Day 10 Pokhara Free day to explore or relax in Pokhara. Day 11/12 Chitwan NP Heading south from Pokhara, you enter the steamy, low-lying jungle. In Chitwan National Park you'll travel by elephant, canoe and on foot in search of wildlife. You should see a variety of birds, spotted deer, rhinos and perhaps, if very lucky, even tigers! Day 13/14 Kathmandu Return to Kathmandu; free day for exploring, shopping, or optional Everest flight. Day 15/16 Overnight flight to London. Responsible Tourism "Rajendra was a wonderful tour leader full of wit, knowledge and support... we were lucky to have him as our guide. The trip...was incredible value for money." Mr B Ireland For every person travelling to Nepal we donate $5 to support a village community centre at Trisuli which you may have the opportunity to visit during your trip.
