Sorrento Neapolitan Riviera & Ischia Nestling along the cliff-tops of the southern-most arc of the Bay of Naples, the Sorrento Peninsula is the largest and most popular of Campanian resorts. The scenery becomes yet more dramatic on the other side of the peninsular, where the Amalfi drive takes you around tortuous bends and through tunnels in the rocky cliff side to beautiful Positano and, further on, to the stylish resort of Amalfi. The beautiful islands of Ischia and Capri lie just off the peninsula. Ischia Porto Ischia Porto is a busy tourist town on the island of Ischia. Its cobbled main road is decoratively lined with a variety of Italian-style restaurants, cafés, bars and shops. The gently-shelving beaches are coarse sand and shingle and various watersports and boat trips are available. It is a good location from which to explore the rest of the island including the major landmark of the area, the Aragonese Castle. Transfer from airport: approx 2hrs, including ferry or hydrofoil crossing Please note: most swimming pools in Ischia contain thermal water, therefore are only recommended for 15 minute intervals at a time, due to their high mineral content and swimming caps must be worn. Thermal pools are not recommended for pregnant women or those with heart conditions. Sorrento Revolving around its vibrant Piazza Tasso, Sorrento offers typically Italian pavement cafes and welcoming restaurants plus streets brimming with shops selling souvenirs, pottery and clothing. For those that appreciate stunning views Sorrento is hard to beat, with clifftop hotels and terraces that look across the sweeping Bay of Naples to Mount Vesuvius and the island of Ischia. For basking and bathing, visitors can use the brightly painted sunbathing platforms that line the sea front at the foot of the cliffs. Transfer from airport: approx 1hr 15mins. St Agnello St Agnello, the second of five areas on the peninsula, is situated in a peaceful location, set back from the bustling centre of Sorrento. Surrounded by lemon and orange groves, this friendly little neighbourhood has beautiful hotels and buildings set amongst its tree lined streets. It is an excellent base from which to explore the areas sites of natural and historic interest. Transfer from airport: approx 1hr 15mins.
