Stalis
Situated mid-way between Hersonissos and Malia on Cretes northern coast, Stalis has an excellent sandy beach and a good choice of watersports. It never gets too lively here, and Stalis enjoys an excellent selection of tavernas and restaurants, where fish is a particular speciality. A good base for exploring further afield, its an easy bus ride to Malia, Hersonissos, and the island capital of Heraklion. Transfer from airport: approx. 1hr 15mins.
Aghios Nikolaos
This is a beautiful resort built by the Venetians around an allegedly bottomless lake (its actually more like 64m in depth!). A cosmopolitan north coast town, offering a small pebble beach, Ag Nik has developed into one of Cretes most popular destinations.
