Albufeira
The Algarve
Portugals beautiful southern coast stretches out for a hundred miles. It invites you to roam the cobbled streets of Praia da Luz, see the flame-red castle at Silves and unwind in the famous resorts of Albufeira, Vilamoura and Praia da Rocha. The Algarve is wonderfully sedate at this time of year, so the scene is set for carefree days, whiled away in restaurants and café along the harbourside or peaceful times shopping at Quarteiras gypsy market.
Monte Gordo
Located in the east, close to Spain is Monte Gordo. The relaxed mood and sandy beach plus a choice of bars and restaurants serving the best in seafood and local cuisine alongside international dishes, all mean that popularity is assured. There are also gift shops, and a casino that hosts a cabaret show. Yet another feature of this appealing resort is a cool pine forest which stretches from Monte Gordo to the Spanish border, which invites long walks or cycle rides. Tavira
Soak up the historic atmosphere of one of the most charming places in the Algarve, a picturesque fishing resort where ancient remnants are intermingled with 18th-century structures. Most noticeable are the many churches scattered around the compact centre; other attractions include the medieval castle, the Roman bridge and the riverside bars and restaurants. There are also some great sandy beaches over on Tavira Island, easily reached by boat. Transfer from airport: approx. 45mins
