Highlights of Laos

Laos is a country which is laid back and largely undeveloped. This tour takes in the fascinating city of Vientiane, and the rustic Luang Prabang, as well as some of the lush Mekong scenery.
Day 1 - Vientiane Day at leisure. Overnight in Green Park Hotel. Day 2 - Vientiane Spend the day discovering the many sights of one of Asia's most laid back cities. Visit Wat Sikaset with over 8000 Buddha statues, and Patouxay (Lao Arc de Triomphe) a monument to those who died during the wars of the past. Overnight Green Park Hotel. (B) Day 3 - Vientiane/Luang Prabang Fly to the mountain kingdom of Lunag Prabang, the first ancient capital of Lane Xing kingdom, the centre of religious life in Laos and now a World Heritage City. Visit some of the many temples, and climb the 328 steps to the summit of Phousi Hill which dominates the skyline and provides superb panoramic views of the city. Overnight Maison Souvannaphoum. (B) Day 4 - Pak Ou Caves Travel on a long tailed boat on the Mekong River and visit the mysterious Pak Ou Caves in the side of a limestone cliff. These caves contain thousands of Buddha images. Journey back via typical Laotian villages and see wood paper making and silk weavings all using natural dyes. Overnight Maison Souvannaphoum. (B, L) Day 5 - Kuang Si Visit the spectacular waterfall at Kuang Si and stop at some of the small tribal villages. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight Maison Souvannaphoum. (B, L)
