With its beachside setting and state-of-the-art wellness centre, this place has got all the hallmarks of a relaxed retreat.
This adult-exclusive hotel is tucked among olive and palm trees, and has a sandy beach at the bottom of its gardens. When you want to pick up the pace, Albufeira is a 40-minute walk or a short taxi ride away. There are three lagoon-like pools to choose from here. They're all hemmed by lawns and sun terraces lined with loungers big enough for two. Inside, there are two more pools in the wellness centre one for swimming and one for spa treatments. Talking of the spa, it's an ultramodern affair offering up everything from aqua therapy to hot oil massage. In terms of where to dine, there are a few options. Head to the main eatery for big buffet breakfasts, with omelettes cooked to order. Dinner is a help-yourself affair, too expect a mix of Mediterranean-style eats and international favourites. Elsewhere, there's a beachfront seafood restaurant and a Portuguese à la carte.
