Set on Akrotiri Bay, Limassol is the islands biggest seaside town with plenty to offer its visitors. Whether youve come here in search of age-old sights or bubbling bars, the towns a mixed bag of delights that never fails to impress.
Nauplion, Greece
Nauplion sweeps down a hillside to a harbour gazing out on the Argolic Gulf. Its narrow streets are packed with mansions, mosques and whitewashed houses. Don your explorers hat and dive right in.
" Experience the old and new faces of Limassol. Stand in the shadow of the
Medieval castle, then head for the modern Yermasoyia quarter and sample a few of the bars and restaurants. " Come over all romantic at Petra tou Romiou, the spot where Aphrodite, goddess of love, is said to have risen from the sea on a gigantic shell. " Head for Curium, a major archaeological site that was one of the old kingdoms of Cyprus. Sights to capture on film include a Greek temple and an impressive cliff-top theatre.
" Dont miss the crumbling Palamidi Castle. Built by the Phoenicians, its the
towns most famous landmark. Youll need to climb 999 steps to reach it, but the breathtaking views and hidden passages make it well worth the effort. " Dont miss the ancient ruins of Corinth. Sights include the Temple of Apollo, a large forum, a basilica and the Temple of Aphrodite. " Mycenae, too, is well worth a trip. It was, after all, once the most powerful kingdom in Greece. Pass through the Lion Gate and see the ruins of Agamemnons Palace with its Great Court and Throne Room.

Nessebar, Bulgaria
