The World Care Fund - caring for the environment and people.
Osika Kashoi Ole Kanayia, from the Maasai village of Enkereri in Kenya
Come on holiday with us any time from May 2009 and together we'll do our bit for the planet. The rules are simple - give a pound to the World Care Fund and we'll match it. Every penny's shared between two independent organisations Climate Care and The Travel Foundation. The first helps make up for the impact holidaymakers have on the environment while the second looks after communities around the world.
Climate Care uses the money you give to fund carbonoffsetting projects. For instance, it recently helped to fund water-powered electricity in Zambia, giving power to schools and a local hospital. Essentially it means you're helping to make up for the impact of your flight. Talking of flights, we're making some changes to the way we operate. As a result, our flights now produce 30% less carbon emissions per person than the UK's leading scheduled and low-cost airlines. And it's only going to get better.
This charity cares for local communities in some of your favourite holiday destinations. It helps locals set up their own tourism businesses. Current projects include teaching 550 Gambian farmers how to supply quality, fresh produce to hotels. And in Enkereri Village, Kenya, the money made from their new tourism ventures has allowed Maasai villagers to pay for clean water and schooling.
