Psalidi
Location 2km from Kos Town Transfer time 1 hour 15 minutes Just down the road from Kos Town, Psalidi is little more than a beach, a few hotels and a sprinkling of tavernas and restaurants. So, if you're looking for a quiet getaway with easy access to the buzzing nightlife of the island's capital, this is the place for you. Psalidi has its own sand and shingle beach, and there are several other stretches north and south of the resort, including those at Kos Town and the remote bay of Bros Therma, where hot springs flow into the sea and make it a bit like a bath. Evenings involve a meal and a few drinks in a taverna, but it's just a mile or so to Kos Town if you want to party. As for getting out and about during the day, Kos Town has plenty of sightseeing attractions, including Venetian architecture, an impressive castle and fascinating Roman remains.
Kos
Tingaki/Marmari
Location 10km southwest of Kos Town Transfer time about 40 minutes Nestled into the north coast, Tingaki has expanded rapidly in recent years. A scattered beach resort that is popular with daytrippers and cyclists, Tingaki is perfect for those seeking a relaxing beach holiday without a huge variety of commercial distractions. The long and sandy beach shelves gently to the sea, and offers a range of watersports. Marmari is the perfect resort for those looking for peace and relaxation in glorious rural surroundings. Marmari's long beaches of golden sand gently shelve into the sea, with views of Kalymnos. Watersports are on offer at the main resort centre and it is a popular spot for windsurfing. There is a small scattering of restaurants and tavernas in the resort centre, or for a slightly busier pace, why not visit one of the many restaurants and bars in the neighbouring resort of Tingaki.
Kos Town
Location 23km from the airport Transfer time 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes Over half the island's population live in Kos Town. So, you won't be surprised to hear it's a fairly lively place. At the same time, it's got oodles of charm, enhanced by a wonderfully picturesque setting and some fine Italian architecture. Ancient Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, Venetians, Ottomans and the English Knights of St John have all pitched into the town's heritage, leaving a rich legacy of landmarks and buildings, including mosques with minarets, temples and churches, not to mention the stunning 15th century castle. Other sightseeing highlights include the Art Deco Archaeological Museum, laid out like a Roman house, the ancient market place, and a heap of roman remains, such as the central baths, the Odeon and the Casa Romana.
Kardamena
Location 25km from Kos Town Transfer time 30 minutes Kardamena is the liveliest place on Kos outside the capital. It's quite small, but crammed full of shops, bars, restaurants and nightclubs, making it fun city' for anyone who wants to party, party, party. The town was once a small fishing village, but these days you're more likely to grab a burger than net the catch of the day. Kardamena isn't for those who want friendly little taverna's, sunsets over a quiet harbour and an authentic Greek atmosphere. It's a buzzing holiday playground with a good deal of Britishness, where the sun shines brightly, the beer flows freely and the discos pulsate until dawn. During the day, activities revolve around the beach, where you can get to grips with some parasailing, try your hand at water-skiing or simply potter about on a pedalo and top up your tan.
