With a beachfront setting and a first-rate pool scene, this stylish hotel pulls out all the stops.
This fresh-out-of-the-wrapping property is sandwiched between dramatic mountains and the soft sands of Porto Santo Beach. There are two lagoon-like pools set just back from the sand, in a prime spot for enjoying the views. Step inside and you're greeted by a sleek, modern lobby. A mirrored reception desk shares floor space with smart white couches, potted palms and bright red pouffes. The restaurant has been given the boutique touch, too - dressed in oranges and purples and accessorised with stripy high-backed chairs. As for the food itself, there's plenty of choice. Try the main restaurant for big international buffets, the Mediterranean à la carte for local favourites with a modern twist, or the à la carte Italian for stone-baked margaritas or pepperonis made to order. There's a beach bar, too. Lastly, the location. Despite its away-from-it-all feel, this place is just a five-minute drive from Porto Santo's main town, Vila Baleira.
