or three generations, the Ballerini family, who own and run le Boscarecce, have been immersed in two passions art history and hospitality. So as well as enjoying the delights of a peaceful rural retreat, there's also the opportunity to get a real insight into the region's art and history. and what a region it is with Florence, Pisa and Siena all within a 40km radius. Family member, Susanna, is full of information when it comes to finding your way to all the best places. She can point you to the historic staging posts on the Pilgrim's Way along the Via Francigena to rome, or provide you with an itinerary to literary Florence and the stamping grounds of its resident writers and poets of old. Meals at le Boscarecce are a delight. They're served either in the converted barn or out on the large terrace, with panoramic views over the Florentine hills. Combining the skills of her son-inlaw, the chef, and her daughter Swan, an accomplished sommelier, and you have traditional Tuscan cuisine at its best. elsewhere, le Boscarecce has fourteen rooms with traditional-style furniture and prettily tiled bathrooms. outside, there's a large saltwater pool and a tennis court in the gardens, while mountain bikes are available if you're feeling energetic. Below this terrace and set in the gardens is a large pool and further exercise can be had on the tennis court or on the mountain bikes provided.
