Cala'n Forcat/Sa Caleta/Cala'n Bosch
Location On the west coast, approximately 50km from Mahon Transfer time 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes Cala'n Forcat is set on a dramatic, rocky headland at the extreme western tip of Menorca. It's the island's most developed resort and is ideal for exploring the west coast. This lively, modern resort comes alive after dark at the local bars and discos, providing a fun atmosphere and attracting young families and couples. By contrast, Sa Caleta is one of the island's hidden gems. A small, tranquil resort with a wonderful stretch of sandy beach it's particularly popular with families and flaunts a selection of rustic restaurants, quaint shops and a low-key nightlife. Cala'n Bosch is a result if you're longing for some fun downtime. Developed in the 1980s and still gleaming in the sun with its attractive, whitewashed buildings, it's genius at providing carefree holidays just the way the British like them.

Santo Tomas/Cala Galdana
Location 25km west of Mahon Transfer time 30 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes Picture this. A small, village on the edge of the Mediterranean. Every morning you enjoy an al fresco breakfast and then saunter down past the sand dunes to the long strip of white sand. The first beach has bright parasols and a scattering of young families. You walk past them to a second beach, a kilometre or more of gently sloping sand, which you almost have to yourself. You've just pictured a holiday in Santo Tomas. Cala Galdana bay is one of the most beautiful coves in the western Mediterranean. It is protected by high cliffs and there's shade from pine trees that surround this attractive hideaway. It's also an ideal starting point for many walks along the picturesque south coast towards Mahon. It's hard to beat for a relaxing holiday and also offers watersports and tennis courts.

Arenal d'en Castell
Location About 20km from Mahon Transfer time 30 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes Beach lovers prepare - the sands at Arenal d'en Castell will blow you away. And on an island renowned for its idyllic beaches, that's really saying something. Set around a near-circular bay tipped by low, rugged cliffs, the beach is long and broad, so there's always ample space. Edging the sands, a row of cafes and bars serve up appetising Spanish snacks and cold drinks when you need refreshment. Behind the beach, the attractive modern resort clambers up the rolling hillside. Wander up here to enjoy the bevy of souvenir shops before tucking into a starlit supper of your favourite cuisine - Arenal's eateries offer such diverse delights as tapas bars, British pubs and Chinese restaurants. Later, if you're not ready for that pillow just yet, call in at the late-night bars to chat and laugh with new found friends.
S'Algar/Punta Prima
Location Approx 10km south of Mahon Transfer time 30 minutes S'Algar is a self-contained and fairly quiet resort on the southeast coast of the island. It sits peacefully between two coves and is popular with couples looking for a romantic retreat. Punta Prima is the perfect place to chose for total relaxation: it's a quiet resort, popular with Menorcans, who have many holiday homes there. The beach is one of the most beautiful on the island. Both resorts have watersports and tennis courts. Evenings in these resorts tend to consist of an excellent meal followed by a quiet drink.
