Side/Lara Beach/Belek/Incekum
Location 12 to 75km east of Antalya Transfer time 30 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes Side offers a seductive cocktail of sun, sea, sand and culture. Walk in the footsteps of history and you'll find well-preserved Roman remains around every corner. You'll also find a great choice of restaurants and bars and some excellent shopping. Lara Beach is a burgeoning resort on Turkey's southern coast. It flaunts a stunning stretch of sand and a sweep of luxurious hotels. On the Mediterranean coast, Belek is a favoured destination for Turkey's jetset. With its impressively long beach, it attracts its fair share of sun worshippers. Belek is also a paradise for golfers, with three top quality courses. Incekum means fine sand', and it boasts one of the best beaches on Turkey's south coast. People come here for its laid-back qualities. You could jump in a taxi to Alanya for a livelier evening, but once most people are here, they find it hard to leave.

Olu Deniz
Location 12km from Fethiye Transfer time 2 hours to 2 hours 30 minutes At Olu Deniz a long stretch of sand and shingle curves around the bay leading to a stunning, secluded lagoon with turquoise waters. The main Belcekiz Beach offers canoes and pedalos during the day, or for the more adventurous, take to the clear blue skies in a microlight available from Olu Deniz. Headsets add to the thrill, allowing landmarks and ground features to be pointed out as you fly an exhilarating 2000ft over Olu Deniz, the Ghost Town or Fethiye. Whatever you decide on during the day, the laid back evenings in Olu Deniz are given over to waterfront and rooftop restaurants and a couple of dance bars on the beach front. If you want a livelier night out, Hisaronu, an inland resort nestling in the pine clad mountains above Olu Deniz, is only four kilometres away and easily reached by local dolmus.
Icmeler/Marmaris
Location 70 to 100km from Dalaman airport Transfer time 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes Icmeler is poised on Turkey's southwest Mediterranean coast. With a backdrop of mountains and a wide sand and shingle beach Icmeler is an exceptionally attractive resort with good facilities that are popular with families. With a stunning setting in a natural bay surrounded by wooded mountains, Marmaris is one of the largest and best developed of Turkey's resorts. The wide, palm-lined seafront promenade follows the line of Uzun Yali Beach which is overlooked by a jostling collection of bars, cafés and restaurants.

Turgutreis/Gümbet
Location 70/47km from Bodrum airport Transfer time 45 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes Situated in the base of a valley with a backdrop of mountaintops and citrus groves, Turgutreis is a growing resort that retains a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere while keeping its visitors entertained. With Greek islands sitting offshore, plus some of the most magnificent sunsets in the world, the views here are nothing short of stunning. Gümbet, on the southern shore of the Bodrum Peninsula, is a fun resort with a winning combination of watersports, beach and nightlife - ideal for young couples, groups of friends and families alike. For after dark entertainment Gümbet offers plenty of bars and restaurants, many catering to British tastes.

Location On the Aegean Coast, approx 100 km northwest of Bodrum Transfer time Approx. 1-2 hours depending on the airport (Bodrum or Izmir) Sitting in a spectacular Aegean bay north of Bodrum, Kusadasi is overloaded with beaches, bazaars, restaurants, amenities and nearby ancient sites. Overlooking its famous landmark, the castle-topped Bird Island, you may be at a loss to know what to do first. If so, head for the beaches for some thinking time. Ladies Beach is a ribbon of satiny sands, a short dolmus trip from the centre. Or check out the town beach or nearby Kustur and Long Beach. Away from the sands, haggle to your heart's content in Kusadasi's captivating Grand Bazaar. And then, dig into ocean-fresh fish at one of the dozens of Turkish restaurants or international and British eateries. And at dusk, Kusadasi has it all. Whether it's throbbing bars, Irish pubs or an open-air disco, enjoying a lazy supper or taking in a cabaret or belly dancing show, it's entirely up to you.
