Location 18km from Bodrum Transfer time 45 mins to 1 hour This charming fishing village on the northern Bodrum peninsula is pure Turkish delight. Hugging a long, curving sandy beach, its a secluded retreat, making it perfect for some soothing, sun-assisted relaxation. The soft sands and sunbeds make for some genuinely comfortable lounging. Once the suns worked its magic, saunter along the bay to indulge in the inviting shops, restaurants and cafes that jockey for position along the edges. Come sundown, the waterfront has a smattering of bars to keep you happy till late. But most people choose Gundogan for laid-back evenings, opting to linger over al fresco dinners under a rose-pink moon. Beach-lounging apart, make time to explore the local area. Visit outlying Rabbit Island to see its crumbled monastery or wander through tangerine groves threaded with splendid ocean views.

Turgutreis
Location 70km from Bodrum airport Transfer time 1 hour to 1 hour 45 minutes Situated in the base of a valley with a backdrop of mountaintops and citrus groves, Turgutreis is a growing resort that retains a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere while keeping its visitors entertained. With Greek islands sitting offshore, plus some of the most magnificent sunsets in the world, the views here are nothing short of stunning. There's a market every Saturday where visitors can pick up leather goods, jewellery and rugs. Otherwise the main shops are of the standard souvenir variety, with some convenient general stores. Being a harbour town, testing the seafood here is a must and there are several restaurants to choose from. Local cuisine is readily available, while English tastes are also catered for, with over a hundred eating places!
Bitez/Gumbet
Location 7km west of Bodrum Transfer time 1 hour to 1 hour 30 mins Gümbet, on the southern shore of the Bodrum Peninsula, is a fun resort with a winning combination of watersports, beach and nightlife - ideal for young couples, groups of friends and families alike. In contrast, relaxed and charming Bitez is the place to go if you want to slow down. While there is a good sand and shingle beach at Gümbet, it is rather narrow and very popular. Other bays with quieter beaches are within an easy dolmus ride. Bitez has an excellent, though narrow, small sandy beach which is perfect for relaxing on. Its a top destination for windsurfing and sailing. Gumbets great selection of restaurants cater for all tastes, especially British. Youll be spoilt for choice with restaurants offering traditional Turkish to Chinese, Indian and other international dishes. Bitez has a few charming waterfront restaurants to choose from.
Bodrum/Torba
Location 5km from Bodrum resort and 25km from the airport Transfer time Approximately 30 minutes Located in a sheltered bay on the northern coast of the Bodrum Peninsula, Torba is a favourite resort with the locals, who love swimming in the clear waters and lunching at the restaurants dotted along the seashore. Here, green hills roll down to isolated sand and pebble beaches, and you dont have to explore too far before coming across small villages (some deserted, some just very sleepy), monasteries and ancient monuments. On the southern side of the peninsula is historic Bodrum, a bustling town with sightseeing, shopping, nightlife and glittering beaches nearby, all crammed into a beautiful natural setting. Dividing Bodrums two bays is the 15th century St. Peters Castle, testifying to the towns history as a Crusader outpost. Meander through the labyrinth of narrow streets in Bodrums Old Town where innumerable shops clamour for your custom.
Altinkum
Location In Ephesus region, about 120km from Bodrum Transfer time 1 hour 30 minutes Altinkum means golden sand and the name more than delivers: this is a beachlovers paradise. The wide sandy beaches slope gently into the Aegean sea, making it perfect families. The kids will enjoy paddling in the blue waters and this wonderful bay is situated against a beautiful mountain backdrop. There are also numerous watersports on offer. For daytime sightseeing dont forget that the Graeco-Roman ruins of Ephesus are within easy reach for an excursion, while the Temple of Apollo at Didyma is a short dolmus ride from the resort. Altinkum offers many restaurants and cafés to enjoy a good meal in. The menus on offer are varied, but fish is very popular. After dark, Altinkums nightlife is generally centred among the lively bars and restaurants along the main seafront promenade.
