The Canadian Rockies overcoated in their winter splendour are a sight never to be forgotten. To savour the silence of a landscape insulated by snow, its glaciered lakes in suspended animation; to witness their aquamarine splendour in a world of frozen waterfalls, giant icicles and naturally formed snow sculptures splendour indeed. We commence our journey in Vancouver before continuing through British Columbia and the breathtaking Rocky Mountains. Vancouver's magnificent setting between mountains and shore is further augmented in winter by the sparkling background of the Coast Mountains. With our tour concluding with stays in the national parks of Jasper and Banff, there will be ample time to absorb this great spectacle. An experience like no other, the quintessential Winter Wonderland awaits you on this delightful holiday.

DAY 2
VANCOUVER
Our morning city tour of Vancouver will include the 1,000-acre Stanley Park. Situated at the end of the peninsular, jutting out into Burrard Inlet and just minutes from Downtown Vancouver, Stanley Park was originally designated as a military reserve in readiness for an American invasion that never came. This afternoon is free, perhaps choose an optional excursion to visit Grouse Mountain and Capilano Suspension Bridge. Grouse Mountain is to the north of Vancouver and its enclosed gondola ride whisks you to the 3,700 ft summit in six minutes. On the south side of Grouse Mountain is Capilano Suspension Bridge, the longest and highest suspended footbridge in the world.
This morning we commence our journey east, following the Fraser and Thompson Rivers, through ever changing scenery. Our destination tonight is Kamloops and our hotel, the Executive Inn.
DAY 5
KAMLOOPS · JASPER
We depart Kamloops this morning for Jasper. We ascend from the Thompson River Valley and cross the Continental Divide and the time zone between the provinces of British Columbia and Alberta. As we cross the Fraser River we may have the chance to see Mount Robson. Though often shrouded in clouds, at 12,972 ft the summit of Mount Robson is the highest point in the Canadian Rockies. We enter the gates of Jasper National Park this afternoon and transfer to our hotel, the Amethyst Lodge in the centre of Jasper town.

DAY 6
JASPER
Two Jacks Mountains Moraine Lake
A relaxing free day in Vancouver and perhaps a chance to take an optional excursion to Victoria, British Columbia's provincial capital. The two-hour ferry crossing from the mainland to Vancouver Island takes you through some of the most attractive and unspoilt coastal landscape you are likely to see on the west coast of
Capilano suspension bridge
Jasper's setting is idyllic, surrounded by lakes and mountains, but in winter the area is resplendent in a coat of snow and ice. Our morning tour of Jasper will include two of the four surrounding lakes; Lakes Patricia and Pyramid. This afternoon you will have the opportunity to join an optional guided walking tour of Maligne Canyon. From the walls of the canyon great swathes of icicles, some well over 10ft long, hang beside waterfalls which, like white-marble pillars, stand frozen solid until the spring thaw.
DAY 7

56
Leaving Jasper this morning, we drive the Icefield's Parkway to Banff. Stretching for over 160 miles, the Icefield's Parkway encapsulates the archetypal Canadian Rockies landscape, from ice-covered aquamarine lakes to snow capped jagged mountainsides. Even in winter, wildlife abounds and most often sighted are the big-horned sheep who will come down from the surrounding hills to feed on the salt deposits left on the road from the grit. We arrive in Banff late this afternoon and transfer to our hotel for the next three nights, the Mount Royal Hotel.
