After two nights in Hong Kong we fly to the mountain city of Chongqing and cruise on a leisurely journey exploring the historic and beautiful sights: from small local villages to ancient Chinese cities such as Nanjing; from the natural wonders of the awe-inspiring Yangtze Gorges and Yellow Mountains to the man-made wonder of the incredible Three Gorges Dam. On each excursion, expert on board guides and lecturers will ensure this unique journey is a real voyage of discovery. We end our cruise in the historic trading city, Shanghai, where Classic Traveller guests stay in the super Jianguo Hotel, enviably located with views over the famous Bund waterfront. ITINERARY - DAY 1 Depart London Heathrow on scheduled Virgin Atlantic direct overnight " Scheduled direct Virgin Atlantic flights flight to Hong Kong. DAY 2 On arrival transfer " 4 star well located hotels throughout to the 4 star Harbour Plaza Metropolis or Park " 6-night 5 star cruise on the Yangtze River Hotel for a two-night stay. The rest of the day at " City tours of Hong Kong & leisure. DAY 3 Visit Victoria Peak with its famous Shanghai included Peak Tram which runs up the hillside. Aberdeen " 8 breakfasts, 8 lunches & 6 dinners included Fishing Village is unlike any other place in Hong Kong and awash with fishing trawlers and houseboats and Repulse Bay has a large, sandy beach. Enjoy an included Dim Sum lunch on a floating restaurant with the rest of the afternoon free. (L) DAY 4 Fly from Hong Kong to Chongqing. Transfer to the Holiday Inn Yangtze for a one-night stay. (D) DAY 5 Transfer to the 5 star Victoria Prince for a six-night cruise on a full board basis including all excursions. Take a shore excursion to Fengdu, the Ghost City known for its gardens, temples and statues of ghosts and devils. (B,L,D) DAY 6 Enter the Three Gorges, one of natures most extraordinary sculptures. Qutang Gorge is the shortest and most dramatic while the 25 mile Wu Gorge is known for its quiet beauty and forestcovered mountains. Take an excursion along the Daning River Lesser Three Gorges. (B,L,D) DAY 7 Morning visit to the impressive Three Gorges Dam site - one of the worlds most impressive feats of engineering. (B,L,D) DAY 8 Afternoon excursion to Wuhan, capital of Hubei Province. Visit the Hubei Provincial Museum. (B,L,D) DAY 9 Full day excursion to Huangshan (the Yellow Mountains)  one of Chinas most famous mountain ranges. Travel to the royal retreat through some of the countrys most scenic rural areas. (B,L,D) DAY 10 Full day tour of Nanjing including Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum and a Qing Dynasty style Bazaar surrounding a Confucian Temple. (B,L,D) DAY 11 Arrive Shanghai. Disembark and visit the Yu Garden - a classical Chinese garden with over 30 pavilions linked by a maze of corridors and bridges over ponds. Time to explore before passing through the old town and taking a walk along the waterfront. Transfer to the Jianguo Hotel for a one-night stay. Free time for shopping at the longest shopping street in China  Nanjing Road. (B,L) DAY 12 Transfer to Shanghai Airport for direct flight to London Heathrow arriving later the same day.
