our representatives will escort you along the stunning Lake Nicaragua. Continue on a scenic drive to the volcanic Island of Ometepe, where we stay for one-night at the Villa Paraiso Hotel. (B) DAY 6 We drive to the historic Spanish city of Granada via the Charco Verde, a legendary lagoon. Discover the historic centre of this colonial jewel. We stay for two-nights at the Alhambra Hotel. (B,D) DAY 7 Visit the Masaya Volcano National Park, where you can observe Santiago crater, known locally as the mouth of the devil. Continue to the colourful market and onto Catarina, a traditional town, to enjoy the breathtaking panorama of Apoyo Lagoon. On our return to Granada, we stop by the Isletas, an archipelago of 350 little islands where we travel by boat discovering these unique islands and their birdlife. (B,L) DAY 8 Drive to Managua, the capital of Nicaragua. After a brief city tour, we fly to San Carlos. A wonderful journey by boat (discovering the wildlife of this beautiful area) takes us back to Costa Rica. Our journey continues by coach to La Fortuna, located at the foot of the active Arenal Volcano, where we stay for one-night at the Lomas del Volcán Hotel. Evening visit to a hot springs spa to relax and a chance to observe the famous Arenal Volcano at night. (B,D) DAY 9 Early morning drive to Matina we will continue by boat and cruise on rivers and channels along the beautiful nature to Tortuguero, where we stay for two-nights at the Mawanba Lodge on a full board basis. From July to September, optional evening tour to the beach of Tortuguero, where the endangered Green Sea Turtles lay their eggs in the sand (approx. US $15 per person). (B,L,D) DAY 10 Discover the narrow channels of Tortuguero National Park, where you might see the fascinating wildlife: crocodiles, turtles, monkeys, sloths and many different species of birds. Enjoy lunch at the lodge and then stroll along the beach to the Caribbean village of Tortuguero. (B,L,D) DAY 11 Depart hotel by
boat for bus transfer, passing the port town of Limón and following the coast south to Cahuita, a small village with a typical Caribbean ambience. Arrive at the Suizo Loco Lodge for a one-night stay. Afternoon free to perhaps enjoy it with a drink in one of the reggae bars and have dinner in one of the local restaurants. (B) DAY 12 Today depart for Cahuita National Park for a walk to view the many species of birds and hopefully sloths and monkeys. Continue to Sixaola and cross the border into Panama before making your way to Almirante for a boat ride to the beautiful islands of Bocas del Toro in the Caribbean Sea. The main island is Colón and here you check-in to the Hotel Swans Cay for a two-night stay. Rest of the day free to relax on the magnificent beaches and take in the Caribbean atmosphere. (B) DAY 13 Included boat trip to Laguna Bocatorito to watch the dolphins with free time to perhaps sample some of the delicious seafood. In the afternoon, you continue to the Red Frog Beach where you have time to swim or to explore the island before returning to the hotel. (B) DAY 14 Fly to Panama City and transfer to the Las Huacas Hotel for a two-night stay. Afternoon tour of Panama City visiting the ruins of the old city, destroyed in 1671 by the pirate Sir Henry Morgan, the cathedral and the National Theatre. Later drive to Miraflores to get a first impression of the Panama Canal. Miraflores is one of the many incredible locks, and you can observe the massive ocean-going ships slowly manoeuvre through this technical miracle. (B) DAY 15 Embark a small cruise ship for a voyage of a lifetime a partial crossing of the Panama Canal. Passing through pristine rainforest and the world famous locks, the expert English speaking guides will explain the canals fascinating story. (B,L) DAY 16 Transfer to the airport for return flight via Madrid to London Heathrow. DAY 17 Arrive UK.
