DAY 2 On arrival transfer to the Shinagawa Prince Hotel for your three-night stay. The rest of the day is free. DAY 3 Depart for a guided city tour including the tranquil Meiji Shrine, the gorgeous Keyaki tree-lined Omotesando, lively Harajuku area and the Asakusa Kannon Temple - the oldest temple in Tokyo. Later today visit the Ginza area dedicated to prestigious shopping and dining. (B,L) DAY 4 A full day free. Perhaps take an optional tour with lunch to Nikko including Toshogu Shrine, Lake Chuzenji in Nikko National Park, panoramic views of Kegon Waterfall and drive through Irohazaka. (B) DAY 5 Depart by bullet train to Odawara and take the Hakone Ropeway for a cable car ride and views of magnificent Mount Fuji to Owakudani. Take a short cruise on picturesque Lake Ashi, located in the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. Later today transfer to the Nampuso Hotel for a one-night stay in a ryokan (Japanese) room. This traditional inn lets you experience charming Japanese culture and customs of reed floor matting, low wooden tables, bathing in hot-springs and sleeping on futons - a wonderful experience. (B) DAY 6 Take a high speed train journey to Hiroshima. On arrival take the short walk to the New Hiroden or Ana Hotel Hiroshima for a two night stay. (B,D) DAY 7 Depart by local train to tour Miyajima including the Itsukushima Shrine  created over 1,400 years ago and described as a shrine where many gods reside. Return to Hiroshima by tram. Visit the Peace Memorial Park and Atomic Bomb Museum. This World Heritage Site is heralded as a symbol of world peace and is a fascinating but moving experience. (B,D) DAY 8 Take the high speed train to Kyoto for an afternoon tour of the Golden Pavillion which is literally covered in gold leaf and is a World Heritage listed site and surrounded by stunning gardens. Continue to Ryoanji Temple. Transfer to the New Miyako Hotel for a three-night stay. (B) DAY 9 Morning tour to Kiyomizu Temple where the main halls broad wooden verandah juts out over a wooded canyon and is supported by 139 pillars. Visit to the Gion and beautiful Maruyama Park. Afternoon free. (B) DAY 10 Full day free to relax or take an optional excursion to Todaiji temple, the largest all-wooden building in the world encompassing the Great Buddha, in Nara Park and Kusaka Shrine. (B) DAY 11 Depart by express train to Kansai Airport at Osaka for return flight to London Heathrow arriving later the same day.
