Iceland is a land of striking contrasts, where the powerful combination of ice and fire has carved out a unique natural landscape. The volcanic forces remain alive today with hot thermal springs, lava fields, waterfalls, mud pools, plates and vast glaciers. Our arrangement includes a full day guided tour of the dramatic interior as well as a visit to the unique, mineral-rich Blue Lagoon, where you can take a relaxing bathe (entrance included). On arrival, transfer to the 3 star Arnarhvoll Hotel (or similar) located in the heart of Reykjavik for a three-night stay (four-nights for Manchester departures). DAY 2 Full day at leisure. Explore Reykjavik or enjoy one of our pre-bookable optional excursions. (B) DAY 3 Full day tour to the incredible lava fields at Hellisheidi Plateau. See the geothermal town of Hveragerdi with its exotic plants, Kerid - a lake filled extinct volcanic crater and Gullfoss - one of Iceland's most stunning and powerful waterfalls. Continue to the geyser area where hot springs and mud pools bubble and bluster. Admire the famous Strokkur Geyser, as she erupts every 10 minutes. Continue (weather permitting) to Thingvellir National Park, where the Great Atlantic rift is slowly pulling Iceland apart along tectonic plates. This fascinating area is also the original site of the oldest parliament in the world. Travel across dramatic mountain scenery back to Reykjavik. (B) DAY 4 Visit the Blue Lagoon (entrance included in the price of our tour) where amidst a setting of lava flows you can take a refreshing bathe or swim in the warm, mineral rich geothermal waters. Transfer to the airport for return flight to the UK. (B) Alternatively extend your stay from £39 per person.

A super new hotel, ideally located in Reykjaviks city centre, but in a quiet located overlooking the sea. On the top floor is the stunning buffet restaurant Vid Floann with breathtaking views over the bay.
