Discover the amazing natural and man-made wonders of Central America in one fascinating tour. We begin in Costa Rica, a beautiful, tranquil tropical paradise where a quarter of the country is protected National Park. In the delightfully warm climate discover unspoilt primary rainforest, unique eco-systems, bathe in volcano heated hot springs, explore abundant wildlife (such as toucans, monkeys, turtles and elegant herons) on the rivers of Tortuguero and admire colonial architecture in the capital San Jose. We then fly to nearby Panama City, entrance to the awe-inspiring Panama Canal, where our cruise offers a unique perspective of the ocean-going liners, massive freighters and other vessels that slowly manoeuvre their way through the gigantic lock systems on their way from the Pacific Ocean to the Caribbean Sea. Not only will you have the services of a Titan tour manager throughout your holiday, but local guides are also on hand to impart their knowledge of the area. 14 DAYS FROM £2315 Toucan White-faced Capuchin San Jose · Tortuguero National Park · Arenal Volcano Tabacon Hot Springs · Monteverde Cloud Forest Panama City · Panama Canal Costa Rica This holiday includes 12 breakfasts, 4 lunches and 3 evening meals DAY 1 LONDON · SAN JOSE We begin with Titan's VIP Home Departure ServiceTM to Gatwick or Heathrow Airport and your scheduled American Airlines flight to Miami or Dallas and your connecting flight to San Jose. On arrival our coach will transfer you to the Hotel Occidental or Apartotel Casa Conde where we stay for two nights. tropical rainforest and volcanic mountains, which stretch as far as the eye can see. Later we make a stop at a banana plantation before travelling by boat along the sinuous waterways of the Tortuguero Canals located within Tortuguero National Park, where we are captivated by the abundance of exotic flora and fauna. Our hotel for the next two nights is the Laguna Lodge on a full board basis. DAY 2 SAN JOSE DAY 4 TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK After breakfast, we explore the breathtaking paradise of the Tortuguero Canals. With its unique system of natural and man-made waterways this is a haven for a wide variety of birds, monkeys, sloths and toucans along with a dazzling array of orchids. After lunch the rest of the day is free for exploration or relaxation. Following breakfast, which is included throughout your holiday, we take a tour of this cosmopolitan capital city. Travelling through both business and residential areas of the city we experience the beautiful diversity of Costa Rican architecture, which include many European influences, but finished with a typical Tico flair. During the tour we visit the Bellavista fortress, an important military building until the abolition of the army in the 1940's, and now home to the fascinating National Museum, which showcases many artefacts from Costa Rica's history and culture. Later we take a brief tour of the exquisite National Theatre, modelled after the Paris Opera House and financed by coffee barons of the 19th century, before returning to our hotel. DAY 5 TORTUGUERO · ARENAL DAY 3 SAN JOSE · TORTUGUERO We begin our journey this morning by driving through the stunning Braulio Carrillo National Park with its dramatic landscape of cloud-enshrouded primary Tabacon Hot Springs This morning we leave our lodge by boat, before continuing by coach through the plains of the San Carlos region, the heart of Costa Rica, thriving with agricultural and livestock smallholdings, to Arenal and its famous volcano. We stay for two nights at the Arenal Paraiso Hotel from which you can enjoy stunning views of the volcano and bathe in one of a number of hot spring pools. Panama Canal DAY 6 ARENAL VOLCANO · TABACON HOT SPRINGS This morning you are free before our late afternoon visit to Tabacon Hot Springs where you can take a relaxing dip in the beautiful natural pools with cascading waterfalls of thermo mineral water, which range in temperature from 27°C to 39°C and set in beautiful ecological gardens. We take dinner at the springs this evening where, dependant on the weather, you can witness the impressive activity at the Arenal Volcano. DAY 7 ARENAL · MONTEVERDE 212 We leave Arenal this morning, skirting the waters of the beautiful Arenal Lake, and later arrive in Monteverde located along the continental divide at 5,000 feet above sea level. Founded by Quakers who travelled from America in 1951, the area now produces a plentiful supply of Monteverde cheese, a Costa Rica speciality. Our base for the next two nights is the Belmar Hotel or Heliconia Hotel.
