DAY 7
NIZWA · WAHIBA SANDS
We depart Nizwa after breakfast in our 4x4 vehicles. Time permitting, a short stop will be made at the towns of Sinaw and Ibra before continuing our journey into Oman's desert, known as the Wahiba Sands, immortalised by Wilfred Thesiger. Home to the traditional and hospitable Bedouin tribe, the area affords breathtaking views of the vast red and white sea of sand dunes which run from north to south, some of which reach a height of 100 metres. We arrive at the One Thousand Nights campsite for an included lunch. In the afternoon we transfer to Ras Al Hadd and the Ras Al Hadd Beach Hotel where dinner is included tonight.

SALALAH
We rise early this morning and proceed to witness one of Oman's major wildlife attractions, the nesting of the giant green turtles on the beautiful beaches of this eastern region. We return to our hotel for breakfast and then we leave for Wadi Shaab, which literally translates as ravine between cliffs. We will stop to take a pleasant stroll, enjoying the tranquil shallow green pools and the lush vegetation that surrounds us under the cooling shade. After lunch we proceed to the beach to admire the expanse of glistening white sand. We continue to Muscat, passing through the town of Sur, famous for its dhow shipyards and reputed home to Sinbad the Sailor. We arrive at our hotel the Shangri La Al Bandar or Al Waha Hotel.

DAY 9
MUSCAT
After breakfast we depart for a guided sightseeing tour of Muscat, `Arabia's Jewel', which offers a unique opportunity to witness a modern commercial centre existing in harmony with its traditional culture. Your sightseeing tour will include the opportunity to view the two 16th century Portuguese forts of Mirani and Jalali that stand either side of the Al Alam Palace, the residence of His Majesty The Sultan Qaboos and will also visit the Oman museum, which traces the nation's history and development. Later in the day we visit the colourful Muttrah souq, renowned for its frankincense, traditional silver jewellery and the local silver Omani khanjar dagger, also the national symbol, which adorns the waist of many of the local men. We return to our hotel and the remainder of the afternoon is free for relaxation or to enjoy the hotel's facilities. This afternoon there may be the opportunity for a sunset cruise on a local dhow, a fishermen's boat, to view the coastline, as ancient seafarers who sailed this route for centuries would have done.

Today you are transferred to Muscat Airport and your scheduled flight by Gulf Air or British Airways to London Heathrow Airport. On arrival our staff will greet you and transfer you to Titan Transport for your homeward journey.
