11 DAYS FROM £1245 Tuscany has long held a special place in the hearts of British travellers, who find its gentle landscape of tree-clad hills and red-roofed, sunbaked buildings both uplifting and relaxing. Its jewel, of course, is the peerless city of Florence, closely followed by the hill-topped glory of Siena and ancient Pisa with their incomparable clutch of spectacular buildings. Journeying between these areas and Venice, even today one experiences a feeling of timeless tranquillity, as enjoyed by the Grand Tourists of bygone ages. Our tour includes a visit to a Chianti winery, a special dinner in the centre of Venice and Montecatini and finishes grandly with a relaxing stay on the enchanting island of Elba. This afternoon we make our journey to Montecatini Terme, a famous spa town known for its wide range of spa architecture from Neo-Classical to Art Nouveau, where we stay for the next five nights at our hotel the Grand Hotel Plaza Locanda Maggiore or the Grand Hotel Vittoria. We dine this evening at a local restaurant. Italy We begin with Titan's VIP Home Departure ServiceTM to London Gatwick Airport and your direct scheduled British Airways flight to Venice or Bologna. On arrival our coach will transfer us to our hotel located close to Venice. DAY 2 VENICE At leisure in Venice. To make our day more pleasurable we offer a familiarisation tour of St Mark's Square and its surroundings, leaving the remainder of the day free to browse around the arcaded shops, or just relax in an open air café. To really experience Venice, a ride on a gondola is a must, introducing you as it does, to the smaller canals with their idyllic bridges and peaceful, uncrowded areas of the city. Venice is also a wonderful city to stroll around, with many picturesque squares, quaint walkways and magnificent buildings. We dine in a local restaurant this evening before returning to our hotel. DAY 4 FLORENCE DAY 3 BOLOGNA · MONTECATINI TERME To Bologna which, with its well preserved historic centre, is renowned for its kilometres of ochre-coloured sweeping porticoes lining every street in the city centre as well as for its university, being the oldest in Europe. Florence is the city where the Italian genius for art reached its pinnacle. Since the Renaissance it has retained its standing as a centre for art and culture and has been a magnet for tourists, artists and art historians. It was first established as a Roman settlement in 59 BC. Today Florence is the main city of Tuscany, celebrated through the centuries. Florence is a wonderfully compact city but despite this, boasts more art galleries and buildings of historic and architectural significance than any other in Italy. The town is dominated by the magnificent dome of Brunelleschi's Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. After a fascinating day which includes a guided walking tour, we return to our hotel for evening dinner. Piazza del Campo - Siena Venice Elba 268
