DAY 3
WASHINGTON · WILLIAMSBURG
Through Virginia to Fredericksburg, childhood home to George Washington, for a lunchtime stop, then south to Jamestown, the first successful English settlement in North America. Here you have time to visit the museum, the English, native Indian and American displays and the replica ships which made the journey from England and listen to narratives by costumed interpreters. A short drive brings us to Williamsburg and the Hilton Garden Inn, our base for the next two nights.
DAY 4
WILLIAMSBURG
Today we experience Colonial Williamsburg, 18th century cultural, social and legislative centre of Virginia. The streets encompass some 88 original buildings including the Governor's Palace, the Court House, the Capitol and several hundred reconstructions and you will be welcomed by local people in 18th century dress demonstrating historical trades and crafts.

DAY 5
WILLIAMSBURG · CHARLESTON
An early start to catch the Jamestown ferry to Scotland. We sample the delightful Colonial Trail, with its picturesque wooden framed houses before crossing into North Carolina and the deep south to Charleston and the Holiday Inn Historic District.
DAY 6
CHARLESTON
We visit the magnificent Magnolia Plantation and Gardens with its vast array of colourful flowers. This afternoon we tour the old city with its cobbled streets lined with handsome southern style houses. Later you have time to explore on foot - the only way to appreciate the network of alleyways and hidden courtyards that make up the unique character of Noel Coward's most stylish city. Dining out here is an experience and your tour manager will be happy to make recommendations.

CHARLESTON · SAVANNAH · ATLANTA
If Charleston represents discreet sophistication, Savannah has the bold beauty of fine Colonial buildings in stately squares, erected by the planters and cotton barons of the 19th century. The riverside has been marvellously restored, with its complex of warehouses on different levels now a fashionable place of restaurants and boutiquestyle shops. We spend a delightful time here, with opportunity for lunch, before proceeding to Atlanta and the Hilton or Crowne Plaza Hotel.
DAY 8
ATLANTA · MONTGOMERY
A city tour of Atlanta before journeying through Alabama to Montgomery, the state capital where Dr. Martin Luther King was Pastor and where he pioneered the civil rights movement and the famous bus boycott. This evening we check into the Embassy Suites Hotel.
DAY 9
MONTGOMERY · NEW ORLEANS
This morning we visit the Martin Luther King Civil Rights Memorial and pass the Dexter Avenue Church where he preached. In the afternoon we journey to New Orleans in Louisiana. On arrival we take a brief orientation tour of New Orleans, birthplace of jazz and relaxed entertainment round the clock. Our hotel located just a short distance from the French Quarter is the Intercontinental or Astor Crowne Plaza and this evening you are free to make your first exploration of the city with its lively French Quarter including Bourbon Street and Jackson Square.
DAY 10
NEW ORLEANS
Today is free to explore. Shop at the Riverwalk, visit the Jackson Square Museums, browse or take a ride on the famous St Charles Streetcar.
