Lodges of Botswana The safaris in Botswana are exclusive and unique. There are many excellent places in which to stay, and numerous combinations from which to choose. Due to the distances between camps and the fact that the Okavango Delta is covered by water at certain times of the year, the best way to access the lodges is to fly between them (sometimes a boat transfer will be necessary). Over the next four pages we have selected the best Orient-Express, CC Africa and Desert & Delta lodges and then provided costs for the most popular sample itineraries to assist you. It is important to highlight that any combination is possible and that the itineraries on pages 80 and 81 are purely suggestions. For alternatives, please ask for a quotation. Part of the excitement of visiting this fantastic area, is the getting around! On all the packages on page 80, you will be transferred by air charter between your chosen camps, enabling you to view this vast wilderness by air as well. This is the quickest and easiest way to get between lodges, but if it's not your cup of tea, we can tailor a package to suit your requirements using road and boat transfers between the lodges, for those offering this alternative. All the packages are priced from Maun to Maun, but these can be done from Kasane as well. All Tour Prices Include · All scheduled transfers from/to your chosen departure/termination point · Lodge accommodation including all meals, soft drinks, local beer and wine served during meal times and on safari activities · Game activities as featured by your chosen lodge, all accompanied by resident guides · National Park fees Camp Moremi Luxury Tented Camp (Combination Camp) 4 Savute Safari Lodge Luxury Bush Lodge (Land Camp) 4 Situated in the heart of reputedly Africa's most beautiful reserve, Camp Moremi offers a diversity of habitat and animal life which is unrivalled in Botswana. Here, the lifegiving waters of the Delta meet up with the vast Kalahari to form open grassland and seasonal floodplains. The elevated Moremi tree lodge is the stunning central point of the camp and houses the luxurious main lounge, a library, dining room and cocktail bar overlooking the Okavango Delta's Xakanaxa Lagoon. It accommodates 22 guests in beautifully-furnished luxury tents, each with private adjacent facilities, which are connected to the tent by an enclosed lethaka (reeded) courtyard accessed through a rear exit. Other lodge facilities include a sundeck, plunge pool, covered boma and an elevated platform at the water's edge, affording magnificent views over the lagoon. Game viewing Track big game on the open grasslands in 4x4 vehicles with possible sightings of lion, wild dogs, cheetah, buffalo, elephant and a host of antelope. Explore the channels of the Delta by mekoro and enjoy some excellent birdwatching by motor boat. This area in the heart of the Chobe National Park pulses to a timeless rhythm of mysterious wet and dry cycles that determine its landscape and inhabitants. For the moment this relic marsh, known as Savute, is dry. Here, peering out from ancient Camelthorn trees, lies Savute Safari Lodge, with just 12 twin-bedded suites. These thatched suites, crafted from timber and glass, with en-suite facilities and private wooden decks, offer luxury and comfort without detracting from your wilderness experience. The lounge, library and cocktail bar are elegantly decorated, while the lodge also has a swimming pool and shaded viewing deck where afternoon tea is served and you can be mesmerised by Savute's sunsets. Game viewing The dry season (Apr-Oct) concentrates Savute's resident elephants, lion prides and antelope around half-empty pans and permanent waterholes. The summer rains (Nov-Mar) bring a feast for the predators as thousands of migrating zebra and wildebeest assemble on the dry marsh. Experience this in 4WD safari vehicles and see ancient San Tribe rock paintings in the Gubatsa Hills. 78
