Botswana Nxabega Okavango Safari Camp Luxury Tented Camp (Combination Camp) 4 Sandibe Safari Lodge Luxury Bush Lodge (Combination Camp) 4 Camp Okavango Luxury Tented Camp (Water Camp) 4 On the edge of the Okavango Delta bordering the Moremi Game Reserve, Nxabega, meaning `Place of the Giraffe', accommodates 18guests in classical, elegant, safari tents on raised wooden decks. Each stylishly-appointed tent has en-suite facilities as well as wardrobes, luggage racks, chairs, a dressing table and a private veranda overlooking the grasslands stretching to the permanent Delta in the distance. The main guest areas, which include a lounge and library, are all made from local timber, reed and thatch. During the heat of the day, cool off in the pool or relax on your deck. In the evening, the award-winning pan-African cuisine combines wholesome African flavours with innovative flair and sophistication. Game viewing Experience the irresistible combination of water and land on game drives in 4WD safari vehicles by riverboat, mekoro or on guided wilderness walks. At Sandibe, you can experience the ever-changing miracle of the Okavango Delta on your doorstep. Located near the perennial Santandibe Channel, the lodge nestles between permanent water and grass-swept plains where herds of elephant, buffalo and tsessebe wander amid vigilant predators. Built with a commitment to `treading lightly on the earth', Sandibe's architecture evokes the earthy, organic, living forest. No trees were sacrificed in the building of the lodge. Each of the eight deluxe thatched cottages has an en-suite bathroom, outdoor shower and private deck. They are spacious and decorated in rich textiles like silk and leather and feature woven mats and copper fittings. The lounge and dining areas are tucked under a soaring canopy of trees. In the afternoon, relax at the swimming pool or in one of the hammocks slung from the trees. Later, enjoy delicious pan-African meals around the fire in the candlelit boma. Game viewing Enjoy the thrilling drama of the nocturnal world on guided night game drives in open 4WD vehicles. During the day, enjoy interpretative walks, game drives, a boat cruise or mekoro (dug-out canoe) touring on the channels of the Santandibe. Tucked away on the remote Nxaragha Island in the heart of the permanent Okavango Delta, here unashamed luxury blends with the Africa of old in the elegant thatch and lethaka (reed) main buildings. Enjoy al fresco meals on the patio and evenings around a blazing camp fire. Other facilities include a cocktail bar, lounge, hammocks, a bird viewing hide and a delightful sun deck and plunge pool for relaxation during the hot midday hours. This intimate lodge accommodates only 22 guests in luxury en-suite safari tents, exquisitely furnished with African teak wardrobe, luggage rack, dressing table, bedside pedestals and traditional director's chairs. At Camp Okavango, each guest is assured of special attention and a unique experience. Game viewing A year-round water wilderness experience. Explore the Okavango Delta by mekoro (dugout canoe), by motor-boat and by foot on the islands of the Delta. See elephant, hippo, waterbuck and other smaller creatures, but no large concentrations of mammals. A birdwatcher's paradise, fishing is also excellent at most times of the year. Savute Elephant Camp Luxury Tented Camp (Land Camp) 5 Eagle Island Camp Luxury Tented Camp (Combination Camp) 5 Khwai River Lodge Luxury Tented Camp (Land Camp) 5 Perched on the former banks of the now dry Savute Channel in the heart of the Chobe National Park, the camp overlooks a permanent waterhole giving guests a spectacular bird's-eye view of elephant in their natural habitat. All 12 luxury tents are housed on raised wooden platforms and shaded by a traditional African thatch roof. They are elegantly furnished with a four-poster bed, ensuite bathroom, air conditioning, mini-bar and a viewing deck with hammock and easy chairs. Fantastic buffet breakfasts and lunches give way to fine evening dinners and all are served in the open-sided dining room and lounge overlooking the camp's pool and the thriving waterhole. Game viewing Savute is an arid landscape renowned for its huge herds of elephant and high concentration of predators such as the endangered wild dog, lion, leopard, cheetah and hyena. The dry season (Apr-Oct) causes the game to congregate around waterholes, whereas the rainy seasons (Nov-Mar) bring the zebra migration and a feast for the predators. Experience all this on morning and evening game drives in 4WD safari vehicles. Hidden deep in the Okavango Delta, on Xaxaba Island, overlooking a tranquil lagoon and surrounded by Illala Palms, is the idyllic retreat of Eagle Island Camp. The 12 spacious, tented-suites are luxuriously furnished with enormous double beds, mosquito nets, air conditioning, a comfortable seating area and a shaded deck with a hammock and chairs that look out onto the lagoon. The en-suite bathrooms have double vanity units and a large walk-in shower. A spectacular pool with panoramic views of the Delta is refreshingly inviting during the afternoon heat, and there aren't many better places to watch the sunset than from the Fish Eagle Bar located enticingly on a raised platform on the edge of the lagoon. Superb dinners are served in several beautiful locations around the camp, including private dinners on your suite's veranda. Game Viewing Xaxaba Island is a pristine natural location, with palm-covered islands and vast flood plains that expose golden savanna when the Delta retreats. Options include game drives in 4WD vehicles, guided walks or water-based viewing by mekoro and motorised boats. Water activities are only available from May-Sept. Nestled on the edge of a leadwood and fig tree forest, overlooking the vast Khwai River floodplains and beyond into the Moremi Wildlife Reserve, sits the luxurious Khwai River Lodge. The 15 tented suites have been designed to the same luxurious standards as the other two Orient Express camps each furnished with private viewing decks perfect for relaxing on. All three camps are renowned for their excellent service and cuisine. Beautiful dinners are served in the open-sided dining room, before guests retreat around the camp-fire for a relaxing nightcap. A large pool offers the perfect respite from the hot afternoons; alternatively observe pods of hippo and numerous colourful birds through a telescope on the viewing deck. Game Viewing The exceptional location of Khwai makes it a regular host to elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dogs. There is also an abundance of birdlife. Activities include open 4WD vehicle early morning and late afternoon game drives (when conditions are ideal for viewing the wildlife), as well as guided walks by one of the experienced team of guides. 79
