Avis is represented at 125 rental locations in South Africa and Namibia. In South Africa the most popular of these include Cape T own, Durban, George, Hoedspruit, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth, KMIA Airport (near Nelspruit) and in Namibia are Windhoek and Swakopmund.

Included In Your Hire
STANDARD or MAXIMUM Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Loss Waiver (TLW). This insurance covers the passengers' liability in the case of a collision or the theft of the car. It also covers third-party motor insurance and windscreen breakage. The excess does not cover personal property. Renters will be requested to sign an indemnity which states that if an accident/theft is caused due to gross negligence, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, unsuitable road conditions or by an unauthorised driver, then the renter will be held responsible. Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) covers the driver and passengers for accidental bodily injury whilst driving, riding in, getting into or out of the Avis vehicle. Insurance applies to persons up to the age of 75. Value Added Tax: Tax at 14% on prepaid charges included but VAT on one-way charges or any extra charges are payable locally. Unlimited Mileage, Airport Surcharge, Maps and Windscreen Damage.
Terms & Conditions
Driver Qualifications: Drivers must have been in possession of a licence for a minimum of one year. A new British Drivers Licence or an International Licence with photograph is required, as well as a credit card for settlement of optional and miscellaneous charges. If the driver is under 21 years of age then a surcharge of R130.00 (SA) or N$130.00 (NA) per day, payable locally, applies. Rental Period: Rates are calculated in cycles of 24 hours, from time of pick-up to time of drop-off. Renters will be charged locally for additional hours/days rented, at extension rates, should a vehicle be returned late. The minimum rental period is one day. One-Way Rentals: A one-way fee of R428.00 (SA) or N$746.00 (NA) will apply on any one-way rental when a vehicle is picked-up and dropped off at different locations in South Africa or Namibia with the exception of: ·Rentals from Johannesburg to Durban, Cape Town, Mpumalanga which will be R647.00 ·Rentals from Durban to Richards Bay will be R129.00. ·Rentals from Port Elizabeth, Plettenberg Bay, Knysna, Grahamstown, East London, Umtata, George and Queenstown to Cape Town will be R428.00. ·Rentals from Johannesburg to Pretoria (or v.v), or if collection and delivery takes place at different depots in the same city, will not incur a charge. ·Rentals from Windhoek to Luderitz, Rosh Pinah will be N$1242 ·Over-the-border, one-way rental charges apply. · Sightseeing tours mentioned in the itineraries are purely suggestions and are not included in the tour price, unless otherwise stated. · Car hire excludes any supplementary costs such as one-way fees and additional driver fees.. Self-Drive Kit This high quality tailor-made route planner, complete with information brochures for self-drive touring in Southern Africa, is a perfect companion to aid you on your trip. The cost is £38 per kit and will be delivered to your first hotel in Cape Town or Johannesburg.
Not Included In Your Hire
Contract Fee: R33.00 (SA) or N$33.00 (NA) per rental. Fuel Deposit: Avis require a credit card or cash deposit of R1080.00 (SA) or N$1080.00 (NA) upon commencement of the rental to cover fuel charges. Water & Under-Carriage damage to vehicles Delivery & Collection Charges: Within a 25km radius of the closest Avis office R143.00 (SA) or N$144.00 (NA) during office hours and R240 out of office hours, weekends and public holidays. Young Driver Charge: R130.00 (SA) or N$130.00 (SA) per day. Additional Driver Charge: R150.00 (SA) or N$150.00 (NA) per additional driver, per rental. Fuel cannot be paid for by credit card, however you can purchase a pre-paid petrol card from Avis locally.
