The Stanley Hotel is located in downtown Nairobi and is one of Nairobi's most famous landmarks, and since 1906 it has stood as the social cornerstone of the city. The Thorn Tree café is one Nairobi's most popular restaurants and in the days before modern communication, was used as a bulletin board for notices and messages from the settlers that lived in the more remote areas of Kenya. Secluded in 10 acres of private land and located on the land that was originally part of Karen Blixen's vast coffee estate, this private home has stunning views of the Ngong Hills. Ngong House is only a half-hour drive from Nairobi's International Airport, 10 minutes from Nairobi city centre and yet, to those who visit, it appears to be in heart of the African bush. Built entirely from wood, the tree houses are on two levels with a bedroom area upstairs and a living area on the lower floor. They are raised 15ft from the ground to gain uninterrupted views. Departures Daily Duration 8 hrs Highlights of this day tour include some of Nairobi's popular landmarks including the law courts, parliament buildings and the uniquely shaped Kenyatta International Conference Centre. You will also have the chance to visit the Railway Museum and the National Museum, or perhaps choose to barter in the colourful city market. After, enjoy lunch at `Carnivore', a meat eater's paradise, famous for its succulent steaks, barbecue dishes, game meat and great African hospitality. Following lunch, head out of town to the suburb of Karen, with the Ngong Hills as a backdrop, and feel immediately swept onto the film set of `Out of Africa'. Carnivore Restaurant
Day 1: Arrive Nairobi On arrival at the airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel for the next two nights. The remainder of the day is at leisure to enjoy the hotel facilities or explore the surrounding area. This evening you will be collected and taken to 'Carnivore', a unique open air speciality meat restaurant, where you can enjoy every meat imaginable and try the famous 'Dawa' cocktails. Standard: Nairobi Safari Club Day 2: Karen After breakfast, follow in the footsteps of Karen Blixen as you travel towards the Ngong Hills. You feel immediately swept onto the film set of 'Out of Africa' the moment you arrive. The old colonial farmhouse is simple, housing a few items that Karen Blixen chose and once enjoyed herself. There are also the colourful gardens to explore, where several old coffee machines have laid untouched for decades. From here visit the Giraffe Centre, where the highly endangered Rothschild giraffe lives in peace.
Day 3: Depart Nairobi Depending on your onward travel arrangements, perhaps enjoy some of Nairobi's popular landmarks before your transfer back to the airport.
