· Time: GMT +4 · Flying Time from UK: Approx. 10 hours · Language: The official languages are Creole and English. · Currency: Seychelles Rupee (SCR) £1 = SCR10.53 · Visa Requirements: A visa is not required for British citizens for stays of less than one month. · Festivals, Events & Busy Times: Most public holidays are Roman Catholic events, including Easter; the Assumption, and the Immaculate Conception. The one major non-religious festival is Festival Kreol, which was set up to preserve and promote Creole culture. Held every year around the end of October, this week-long festival is an explosion of Creole cuisine, fashion, art, music and dance. The central hub and international gateway, Mahé is home to the country's quaint capital of Victoria and 90 per cent of the population. Mahé has a variety of secluded beaches that are worth exploring especially in the south where they are quieter and prettier. There are also some fantastic bays to snorkel around on the east coast.
