Idyllically located on the western shore of Lake St. Lucia, adjoining False Bay Game Reserve and the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, the lodge commands a spectacular view of Hluhluwe River floodplain and False Bay. The lodge is perfectly located to explore the region either by self-drive or by taking one of the many guided tours to Cape Vidal, Sodwana Bay and Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserve. The lodge runs many day trips which take in places such as Lake St Lucia, as well as visits to Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserve, which is home to the `Big 5'. Cradled between the Ubombo Mountains and the azure Indian Ocean, Phinda Private Game Reserve comprises 22,000 hectares of prime conservation land and is situated adjacent to the iSimangaliso Wetland Park (previously called St Lucia Wetland Park), one of Africa's most ecologically-diverse regions and now a World Heritage Site. The pristine beaches close by are the breeding ground for giant Leatherback and rare Loggerhead turtles while the nearby coast of Sodwana is said to rival the Great Barrier Reef. Freshwater lakes and river floodplains are the domain of crocodiles, hippos and flamingos whilst the dense bushveld is home to a great diversity of wildlife, including Africa's `Big 5' and over 380 bird species. Set in the southern part of the reserve, Mountain Lodge is a sophisticated harmony of avant garde and ethnic décor, superb cuisine and warm, personalised service. Mountain Lodge
At Forest Lodge, the walls have become windows. Specially constructed to minimise impact on the rare Sand Forest, the stilted glass chalets float between the forest floor and the towering trees. No luxury has been overlooked beechwood and slate floors, air-con and wide verandahs. Dinner is served in the forest boma or the stylish dining room, which, together with the lounge and pool, overlooks the vlei.
