Small Group Touring 6 Day Garden Route & Cape Winelands Cape Town to Cape Town Tour SMCC6 Departures: Wednesday Day 1: Cape Town ­ Montagu Depart Cape Town and head towards the scenic Cape Winelands. Visit the Stellenbosch Museum followed by a wine farm to enjoy some wine tasting. Take a short walk around the area before continuing on to Worcester, quaint Robertson and finally Montagu. Overnight: Montagu Country Hotel or similar Day 2: Montagu ­ Oudtshoorn After breakfast, watch the scenery change as you travel to Oudtshoorn, passing through Barrydale, Ladismith and Calitzdorp. Take a guided tour of an ostrich farm and the world-famous Cango Caves. (BL) Overnight: La Plume Guest House or similar Day 3: Oudtshoorn ­ Knysna Travel over the stunning Outeniqua Pass to George. Time permitting; there is an option to board the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe for a steam train trip to Sedgefield (at your own expense). On arrival, you will be transferred by mini-bus to Knysna, then board the ferry to the Featherbed Nature Reserve. Enjoy a trailer ride to the top of the Western Head and walk back through the Milkwood trees for lunch, before returning to Knysna and checking in for a two-night stay. (BL) Overnight: Knysna Log Inn or similar Day 4: Knysna This morning, you'll see some of the most beautiful parts of the Garden Route as you drive to Nature's Valley and the Tsitsikamma Forest. Return via Plettenberg Bay to Knysna to enjoy time at leisure exploring the resort. (B) Day 5: Knysna ­ Hermanus Travel via George to the picturesque Cape Dutch town of Swellendam and on to Hermanus, famous as one of the world's best places for shore-based whale viewing from June - November. (BL) Overnight: Auberge Burgundy or similar Day 6: Hermanus ­ Cape Town Depart Hermanus and travel along the coastal road to Somerset West where you'll stop for lunch at a wine farm (at your own expense). Continue on to Cape Town where your tour ends on arrival late afternoon. Knysna Lagoon Departures: Tuesday Day 1: Port Elizabeth ­ Knysna Head for the Paul Sauer Bridge, spanning 130m above the spectacular Storms River Gorge. Visit the Big Tree, an 800year old Outeniqua Yellowwood within the Tsitsikamma Forest before heading via Nature's Valley and Plettenberg Bay to Knysna, a beautifully-sited town at the heart of the Garden Route, and check-in for a two-night stay. Overnight: Knysna Log Inn or similar Day 2: Knysna After breakfast we enjoy a cruise and walk. Board the ferry for a cruise to the Featherbed Nature Reserve, where we enjoy a trailer ride to the top of the Western Head, returning for lunch (included) under the Milkwood trees. On returning back to Knysna, there is free time to relax at the pool or wander around this vibrant town exploring its shops and cafés. This evening, you are free to enjoy dinner (not included) at your choice of one of the resort's many restaurants. (BL) Day 3: Knysna - Oudtshoorn Travel via the Outeniqua Pass to Oudsthoorn, a charming country town known as the 'Ostrich Capital' of South Africa, where you will visit the world-renowned Cango Caves. Arrive at your hotel in the late afternoon where you will have time to relax before dinner. (BD) Overnight: Queens Hotel or similar Day 4: Oudsthoorn ­ Cape Town After breakfast travel on a scenic drive via Route 62 through the 'Little Karoo', heading towards Cape Town via Ladismith and the Huisrivier Pass, with a viewpoint stop on the pass. Arrive in Montagu for lunch (optional, at your own expense). Continue to Cape Town where the tour ends on arrival in the late afternoon.
