Africa 09Pg54 23/7/08 11:22 Page 54 Self-Drives Garden Route Explorer Self-Drive 6 Days Cape Town to Port Elizabeth Days 4 & 5: Oudtshoorn  Knysna/Plettenberg Bay (135km)/(169km) Travel over Outeniqua Pass and descend into the colourful Garden Route. Choose between either Knysna or Plettenberg Bay as your base for the next two nights to explore the delights of this region. Beautiful beaches, forest walks, dramatic gorges, small towns and superb food characterise the area.(B) Standard: Knysna Log Inn, Knysna Superior: Laird's Lodge, Plettenberg Bay Day 6: Knysna/Plettenberg Bay  Port Elizabeth (285km/248km) En route to Tsitsikamma, take a detour and drive through Nature's Valley which decends into dramatic gorges and down to a wild coastline, before proceeding onto Tsitsikamma National Park. Finally, continue on to Port Elizabeth where your tour ends. Set on the edge of Klein Karoo, the scenery changes from colourful lush valleys to a semi desert with a mountainous arid landscape. The historic town of Montagu will seduce you with its picturesque colonial buildings.
