Day 1: Cape Town On arrival at Cape Town International Airport, transfer to the elegant Cape Grace hotel where your South Africa tour begins. Meet your Tauck representative, and check-in for a three-night stay. Enjoy the welcome reception and dinner with Table Mountain as a striking backdrop.(D) Overnight: Cape Grace (see page 38) Day 2: Cape Town Today, take a ferry ride across Table Bay to Robben Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fascinating history of the island unfolds during a guided tour, and the struggles of South Africa's freedom fighters come alive as you view the infamous prison and the cell in which Nelson Mandela was confined for 18 years. This island, formerly a whaling station, also boasts a beautiful nature reserve. The remainder of the day is free to explore Cape Town as you wish.(BD) Day 3: Cape Town This morning embark on your orientation tour of Cape Town before riding the cable car to the top of Table Mountain to walk along the trails while admiring the views of the city and the rugged coastline below. Then, journey onwards to Cape Point which is situated within the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. This evening enjoy the varied dining and entertainment options of the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront.(BL) Day 4: Cape Town - Stellenbosch This morning you travel to the Winelands stopping to taste the country's wines at an historic estate; visit the town of Stellenbosch, located in one of the oldest and most important wine-producing regions in South Africa. Founded in 1679, it features whitewashed Cape Dutch buildings along oak-lined streets.(BD) Overnight: Lanzerac Manor and Winery Day 5: Stellenbosch - Kruger This morning, fly to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, arriving mid-afternoon for a two-night stay amidst the comforts of your luxury lodge at Sabi Sand Game Reserve, one of South Africa's finest private game reserves BOTSWANA Pilgrims Rest 2 Nelspruit Johannesburg 2 SOUTH AFRICA Cape Town 3 1 Winelands 1 Land Air No. of nights stayed which is situated along the Sabie River adjacent to Kruger National Park. Skilled rangers guide the adventure, providing fascinating insights into the geography, wildlife and conservation efforts of the game reserve. Animal sightings may include leopards, lions, elephants, impalas and zebras. There are also over 350 bird species in the reserve. Back at the lodge, take a guided bush walk, or enjoy a swim in the pool. The evening is at your leisure to spend as you wish.(BL) Day 9: Johannesburg - Victoria Falls Fly to Victoria Falls, regarded as one of the seven natural wonders of the world. The Zambezi River plunges more than 300 feet into the Zambezi Gorge, often creating rainbows in the spray. It is nearly twice as wide and twice Cape Town as high as Niagara Falls. Enjoy a relaxing two-night stay at the elegant Victoria Falls Hotel, established in 1904.
