Lombok & The Gili Islands
Just a short journey across from Bali lies the remote island of Lombok. Frequently described as Bali twenty years ago, the island still retains its rural charm with quiet beaches, lush rice fields and small sleepy towns waiting to be discovered. A sprinkling of hotels, guesthouses and restaurants are present around the island's coastline, and especially within the main resort of Senggigi, ensuring visitors have ample facilities yet development is kept to a minimum. Getting to Lombok & The Gilis
Lombok: Lombok is easily reached by air or sea from neighbouring Bali. Daily flights depart from Bali's Denpasar Airport to Lombok's Mataram Airport and take approximately 25 minutes. Alternatively there are daily ferry crossings traversing the often treacherous Lombok Strait, however, journey time is a lot longer. Gili Islands: The usual way to get to The Gili Islands is to catch one of the many local boats passing to and from Lombok. However, for guests staying at Hotel Vila Ombak, the resort will arrange private car and speedboat transfers from Lombok airport to the resort.
