Departures: Daily Day 1: Arrive Kunming On arrival into Kunming you will be met and transferred to your hotel for a two night stay. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Accommodation: Harbour Plaza Hotel, Kunming Day 2: Kunming Sightseeing Today is spent visiting Kunming's attractions. Explore the hills above the city and visit the Bamboo Temple and the 1000 year old Yuangtong Temple. Experience the Flower and Bird Markets before stopping to relax for lunch. This afternoon travel to Lake Dian and the Western Hills to view the Dragon Gate. (BL) Day 3: Kunming - Dali Board an early morning flight to Dali to make the most of a full day's touring. Explore the Old Town, the Three Pagodas and take in a colourful Bai Village; Dali is inhabited by the local Bai Tribe who are known for their colourful costumes. Also enjoy a relaxing boat trip on the beautiful Erhai Lake.(BL) Accommodation: Asia Star Hotel, Dali Day 4: Dali - Lijiang Today drive along the shoreline of Erhai Lake to Lijiang, home to the Naxi tribe. In the afternoon visit the Black Dragon Pool, the source of water for Dayan, and the Dongba Culture Museum to learn more about the area and its people. Songzanlin Monastery
Day 5: Lijiang This morning's sightseeing visits the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, a mountain range providing stunning views of the area from its peaks (there is a cable car to help you up). You will also see the Baisha Frescos that depict Taoist, Chinese and Tibetan Buddhist themes. The day ends with a steep walk to the Jade Peak Monastery and its tree of 10,000 blossoms.(BL) Day 6: Lijiang - Zhongdian Set off for a full day touring in the stunning countryside north of Lijiang. At Tiger Leaping Gorge marvel at its cliffs, measuring 4000 meters high on each side, and trek along the river to capture the full experience. Later, arrive in Shangri-La and transfer to your hotel, the Gyalthang Dzong, for the following two nights.(BL) Accommodation: Gyalthang Dzong Hotel, Zhongdian Day 7: Zhongdian Today enjoy some Tibetan culture by visiting the fascinating Songzanlin Monastery and Zhongdian's old town stopping en-route for lunch and a rest. This afternoon you have the
option of travelling to Tanwei to visit a traditional pottery making village. (BL) Day 8: Zhongdian - Kunming After your flight back to Kunming, travel to Shilin to see the Stone Forest. A large collection of limestone pillars eroded by the elements for over 250 million years to create the surreal forms seen today. Heading back to Kunming visit a Minority Village before arriving at your hotel for the evening. (BL) Accommodation: Harbour Plaza Hotel, Kunming Day 9: Depart Kunming Spend the day at leisure before transferring to the airport for your onward journey. (B)
