Day 1: Arrive Hong Kong On arrival into Hong Kong airport you will be met and transferred to the Kowloon Shangri-La Hotel, ideally located on the Victoria Harbour front. Accommodation: Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong Day 2: Hong Kong Island Sightseeing This morning will be spent exploring Hong Kong's most iconic attractions, including a ride on the funicular tram up to Victoria Peak for panoramic views of the city. Board a traditional Chinese sampan to explore Aberdeen Harbour and take a guided walk around Stanley Market. The rest of the day is at leisure.(BD) Day 3: Kowloon Sightseeing Explore the traditional side of Hong Kong in the bustling narrow streets of Kowloon. Learn more about daily life away from the shining skyscrapers and modern shopping malls, including a visit to a colourful fish market.(B) Day 4: Hong Kong - Beijing Fly from Hong Kong to Beijing and check into the prestigious Peninsula Beijing Hotel. Tonight, join the rest of your group for welcome cocktails and dinner.(BD) Accommodation: Peninsula Beijing Day 5: Tiananmen Square & Forbidden City Tiananmen Square is a must see of historic proportions in both size and history. The memory of Chairman Mao dominates the square where his portrait hangs above the Gate of Heavenly Peace. A guided tour of the Forbidden City and the emperors' quarters contrasts with your tour of the traditional Beijing Hutongs by trishaw, stopping enroute for tea at a private home. Enjoy a culinary treat tonight at a dinner featuring Peking Duck.(BLD) Day 6: The Great Wall & Summer Palace China's Great Wall is truly astounding. Today's cable car ride takes you high up to the wall where you can take a stroll along its stone path and capture the breathtaking views. Spend the afternoon at the 18th century Summer Palace with its ornate pavilions and extensive gardens.(BLD)

Day 7: Beijing Xian Visit the Temple of Heaven, one of Beijing's most famous temples and a good place to see the older locals passing time playing cards and practicing Tai Chi. Fly to Xian, once the ancient capital of China, and journey through scenic countryside before arriving at your hotel.(BLD) Accommodation: Golden Flower Hotel by Shangri-La, Xian Day 8: The Terracotta Warriors Today's sightseeing includes the Little Wild Goose Pagoda, China's largest and best preserved city walls and the amazing Terracotta Warriors. This army of 8000 life-sized statues have been guarding their emperor's underground tomb for over 2000 years.(BLD) Day 9: Xian Guilin Fly to Guilin, one of the most picturesque places in China, it boasts an inspirational setting that never fails to stir the soul. A private cruise for your group on the Li River showcases landscapes of rolling hills and steep cliffs.(BLD) Accommodation: Sheraton Guilin Hotel Day 10: Guilin Chongqing Visit the impressive caves of Guilin, a wonderland of stalagmites and stone pillars that have attracted visitors since the Tang Dynasty. Fly on to Chongqing to embark on your Yangtze cruise this evening.(BLD) Accommodation: Outside Stateroom, Victoria Cruise Ship Day 11: Yangtze River Cruise Savour the beauty of China's longest river, the mighty Yangtze. Start the day with Tai Chi exercises and this afternoon take a shore excursion to a relocation village to learn about the effect on the local population of the Three Gorges Dam Project. This evening meet your Captain at the ship's welcome dinner.(BLD)
Day 12: The Three Gorges Dam A shore excursion to the Daning River enhances your view of the Qutang Gorge this morning. Back aboard the ship see Goddess Peak as you pass through 25-mile Wu Gorge and finally pass through Xiling Gorge, the last and longest of the three Gorges. (BLD) Day 13: Yichang Shanghai Today disembark the ship and fly to Shanghai, one of China's most cosmopolitan cities. The rest of the day is yours to explore the city further.(BLD) Accommodation: Four Seasons Hotel, Shanghai Day 14: Shanghai Sightseeing Today's guided city tour includes classical Yu Gardens. See a daring performance by the world-renowned Shanghai Acrobat Troupe after dinner this evening.(BL) Day 15: Zhujiajiao Water Village Explore Zhujiajiao, dating back more than 1700 years, walk along the streets descended from the Ming and Qing dynasties and see centuries-old bridges still in use today. Return to Shanghai where the rest of the day is at leisure.(BD) Day 16: Depart Shanghai Transfer from your hotel to Shanghai International Airport where your tour ends. (B)
