China Touring China Explorer 14 Days Beijing to Shanghai from £1869, Private Tour. This exciting journey explores China's most iconic modern and ancient sites, from Imperial Beijing to tiny fishing villages on Guilin's spectacular Li River and ending in the ever evolving Shanghai. Stop to relax in Suzhou's ancient gardens and absorb the tranquillity of Hangzhou's willow-lined West Lake. Beijing 3 Xian 2 Chengdu 2 Yangtze River Guilin Departures: Daily Day 1: Arrive Beijing Upon arrival in Beijing you will be met and transferred to your centrally located hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Accommodation: Novotel Peace Hotel, Beijing Day 2: Beijing Sightseeing Enjoy a full day of sightseeing, visiting Beijing's main attractions including the beautifully preserved Forbidden City where you will learn about China's Imperial Dynasties. Make a stop at Tiananmen Square before relaxing over a traditional Beijing lunch. This afternoon will be spent exploring the winding lanes within the fascinating Hutongs, the remaining traditional homes and old courtyards of past Beijing. This evening enjoy a traditional Peking Duck Dinner, Beijing's most famous culinary dish. (BLD) Day 3: The Great Wall of China Travel to the quieter Mutianyu section of China's most famous attraction  The Great Wall. Here you will spend time exploring the wall and taking memorable photographs. On your return to Beijing visit the Summer Palace Gardens with its temples, lake and pagodas once a playground of the royal court. (BL) Day 4: Beijing - Xian This morning visit the Temple of Heaven, one of the city's most photographed sites and also a lively place to watch the elderly locals practicing Tai Chi and singing Chinese opera. After lunch transfer to the airport for you flight to Xian where you will be met on arrival. This afternoon visit the Grand Mosque and the narrow lanes of the Muslim Quarter.(BL) Accommodation: New World Hotel, Xian. The Forbidden City Day 5: Xian & The Terracotta Warriors A full days sightseeing starting east of Xian at the truly remarkable Terracotta Warriors. Still under excavation, the thousands of life-sized warriors and horses were only unearthed in 1974. On return to Xian visit the Shaanxi History Museum, said to be one of the best in China and stop at Xian's most famous landmark, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. This evening dinner will be held during a Tang Dynasty dancing performance.(BLD) Day 6: Xian  Chengdu Today visit the old city of Xian, viewing the ancient City Walls and the Bell Tower. Transfer to the airport for your onward flight to Chengdu. The rest of the day will be at leisure.(BL) Accommodation: Tibet Hotel, Chengdu Day 7: Chengdu Panda Centre Travel to the Giant Panda Breeding Research Centre home to over 50 Giant Pandas. Visitors have the opportunity to have their picture taken with its famous inhabitants (at own expense) and visit the museum. (BL) Day 8: Chengdu  Guilin Fly from Chengdu to Guilin where later on today you will visit Fubo Hill offering beautiful vistas of the town and its surrounding countryside.(BL) Accommodation: Sheraton Hotel, Guilin Day 9: Li River Cruise & Yangshou Board your boat for a wonderful journey along the Li River fringed by towering limestone cliffs. Disembark at the small town of Yangshou where you have time to explore the cobbled streets before transferring back to Guilin by road.(BL) Day 10: Guilin  Hangzhou Travel via the Reed Flute Cave to Guilin airport for your flight to Hangzhou, one of China's most important cultural centres. The rest of the day is at leisure for you to get aquainted with this charming city.(BL) Accommodation: Ramada Plaza Hangzhou Haihua Day 11: Hangzhou Sightseeing Visit Hangzhou's famous West Lake with its gardens, pagodas and islands, the subject of numerous Chinese watercolours. Other attractions include the Six Harmonies Pagoda and Lingyin Temple.(BL) Day 12: Hangzhou  Shanghai Enjoy a short train journey to Shanghai, the Paris of the East'. Visit the tranquil Yu Yuan Gardens, China Town and the contrasting hi-tech skyline from the Bund. (BL) Accommodation: Equatorial Hotel, Shanghai Day 13: Suzhou Today, visit one of China's most charming towns, Suzhou, renowned for its ancient gardens. View the Garden of the Master of the Nets and the Humble Administrator's Garden, two of the best preserved in the area. Stop at Tiger Hill and Suzhou Silk Museum before heading back to Shanghai.(BL) Day 14: Depart Shanghai Transfer to Shanghai airport for your onward journey.
