Guilin
This pretty town lies on the beautiful Li River amid the towering limestone karsts which dominate the landscapes of this picturesque region. A cruise on the river is a must and is frequently one of the highlights of a visit to China. We particularly recommend spending a couple of nights in the nearby charming town of Yangshuo with its cobbled streets and small traditional shops. Rent a bicycle for a few days, visit local villages and relax amid the beautiful scenery. Alternatively the Dragon's Backbone rice terraces are an incredible sight and home to numerous colourful minority villages waiting to be explored.

Day 1: Arrive Guilin Upon arrival at Guilin airport you will be met and transferred to your centrally located hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to make your first explorations of the town. Accommodation: Guilin Bravo Hotel, Guilin Day 2: The Li River & Yangshou After breakfast set off on your morning cruise along the Li River to the beautiful village of Yangshou. Enjoy stunning views as you cruise pass majestic peaks as limestone cliffs loom over the landscape. A buffet lunch will be served on board as you relax and admire the scenery. Day 3: Yangshou & Reed Flute Caves This morning is at leisure for you to enjoy Yangshou and the range of activities it has to offer. Many visitors to China name Yangshou as one of their most memorable destinations, we recommend hiring a bike and peddling alongside the lush rice fields with their unique back-drop of limestone cliffs. This afternoon you will be taken to the Reed Flute Cave, known for its impressive rock formations, then return to your Guilin hotel.(B) Accommodation: Guilin Bravo Hotel, Guilin Day 4: Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces Today visit Longji Rice Terraces, a section of the better known Dragon's Backbone Rice Terrace system stretching across a string of 800 metre peaks. A climb to the top affords amazing vistas of this traditional farming area and a chance to meet the locals. This afternoon transfer back to Guilin airport for your onward flight. (BL)
