Shanghai
At first glance little remains of the old Shanghai characterised in numerous novels and films. Opium dens and enchanting courtyard houses have been replaced by modern housing and shopping centres and yet certain areas of the city still retain their ancient charm. The Bund forms part of Shanghai's most famous mile and is a focal point of the city, particularly beautiful in the early morning or during the evening. Take time to explore the French Concession with its villalined streets, interesting boutiques and fashionable restaurants or the Chinese old town with its maze of narrow streets and market stalls. Stylish restaurants and bars abound in Shanghai, be sure to seek some out.

Day 1: Arrive Shanghai Upon arrival in to Shanghai airport you will be met and transferred to your chosen city hotel. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure to get orientated with the city and relax a little. Tonight we recommend venturing in to the atmospheric French Quarter of Shanghai for dinner and drinks. Take some time to explore the ancient winding streets of China Town with market stalls and wonderfully classic and intricate Chinese architecture.
Relax over lunch at a local teahouse where you can sample a range of Shanghai's fragrant cuisine and quench your thirst with a pot of traditional Chinese tea. This afternoon arrive at the fashionable Bund area with its European style promenade lining the banks of the Huangpu River with views of the iconic skyline over to high-tech Pudong. (L) Day 3: Zhujiajiao Water Village & Depart Shanghai Spend a relaxing day at Zhujiajiao village - one of the many picturesque water villages that surround Shanghai. Wander through the narrow streets, past the numerous canals and cross over the many charming bridges as you go. This tour provides an excellent contrast to the vibrant, frenetic atmosphere of Shanghai and is a must-see for any visitor to this part of China.
