Getting around in Vietnam * Domestic travel: Vietnam has a good scattering of domestic airports to fly between, linking major cities such as Hanoi to smaller beach resorts including Danang. Flying is by far the best way to travel and with more routes and services opening it means that exploration of a number of regions within one visit is now possible. * Cross-border touring: For those wanting to travel from Vietnam across to Laos and Cambodia, frequent daily flights exist from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). As can be seen in a number of our tour itineraries, borders can also be crossed at specific points by road or boat. Travel in style on the colonial inspired Victoria Express train where you will settle for the night in an air-conditioned, shared 2-berth sleeper carriage. Accommodation: Victoria Express Train Day 2: Sapa On arrival at Lao Cai train station you will be met for the 35km drive up to Sapa, passing spectacular mountain scenery to reach this charming town set amongst the highest and most beautiful mountains in Vietnam. After breakfast explore Muong Hoa Valley and its lush rice terraces, continue on to the villages of Lao Chai and Ta Van to meet the local minorities. Return back to Sapa this afternoon where the rest of your day will be at leisure. (B) Accommodation: Victoria Sapa Hotel Day 3: Sapa - Hanoi After a leisurely start to the morning, travel to a Red Dao Village home to one of the regions most colourful minorities. Explore the village and meet the locals, learning more about their local handicrafts and daily life. Return back to Sapa where the afternoon is free for you to explore the town with its market and mountain views. Later descend to Lao Cai to board the overnight train back to Hanoi. (B) Accommodation: Victoria Express Train, 2-berth shared cabin Day 4: Arrive Hanoi On arrival at Hanoi train station this morning you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Single passengers should expect to share train carriages due to limitations of these services. We recommend couples book the 2-berth carriage option to guarantee privacy.
