Day 1: Arrive Cairns On arrival at Cairns Airport you will be transferred to your chosen resort (Cairns, Palm Cove or Port Douglas) for your three night stay. Standard: Discovery Resort Cairns, Reef Retreat Palm Cove, or Bay Villas Port Douglas. Superior: Rydges Esplanade Cairns, Novotel Rockford Palm Cove, or Mantra Treetops Port Douglas. Deluxe: Shangri-La Hotel The Marina, Peppers Beach Club & Spa Palm Cove, or Sea Temple Port Douglas. Day 2: Kuranda Rail and Skyrail Today, experience the beautiful Kuranda Scenic Railway and Skyrail. Sit back and enjoy the view as the train travels through the spectacular Barron Gorge. Explore the village and the markets (open Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday) before boarding the Skyrail. This is the world's longest gondola cableway which glides just metres above the rainforest canopy, enabling you to experience the sights, sounds, smells and life of the rainforest. Continue on to Tjapukai for a beautiful buffet lunch. Experience the creation and history theatres, a truly outstanding complex. (L)
Day 3: The Great Barrier Reef Today you will explore Queensland's number one attraction, The Great Barrier Reef. Board Quicksilver's high-speed WavePiercer catamaran to Agincourt Reef. Today is entirely suitable for swimmers and non-swimmers alike. Travel in comfort with an excellent level of service and stay dry on the safely secured pontoon if you wish. See marine life in abundance, snorkel or view the amazing coral from a semisubmersible. Please ask if you would like to dive or snorkel with a marine biologist (additional cost). Optional Extra: Ballooning with Hot Air - Hot Air and Quicksilver schedules fit perfectly so you can enjoy a hot air balloon ride followed by a champagne breakfast before your reef trip, from £91 per person. Day 1: Arrive in Cairns After collecting your car, visit the marina or take a stroll along the Esplanade and enjoy a leisurely day. Standard: Discovery Resort Cairns Superior: The Lakes Resort & Spa Boutique: Shangri-La Hotel The Marina Day 2: Cairns Spend today discovering what Cairns has to offer. Perhaps head inland to Kuranda, famed for its market, Skyrail and the Kuranda Railway. Optional Extra: Kuranda All Inclusive - This tour takes in all the must see sights including Kuranda, Skyrail and Tjapukai, from £84 per person. Day 3: Cairns Port Douglas (64km/40miles) Head north and take the scenic drive along the coast towards Port Douglas. This is one of the most beautiful drives in the country so take your time and do stop at Palm Cove. Continue to Port Douglas for a three night stay. Day 4: Port Douglas Day at leisure. Optional Extra: Quicksilver Outer Barrier Reef - A trip to the reef is highly recommended for swimmers and non-swimmers alike, from £82 per person. Day 5: Port Douglas Day at leisure. Discover the famous `Four Mile Beach' and marina lined with boutiques and harbourside cafés. Day 6: Port Douglas Cape Tribulation (83km/52miles) Depart Port Douglas today and travel north along the main highway towards Mossman and to Cape Tribulation National Park. Through the Daintree and on to your accommodation for the night, you will enjoy ancient rainforest and protected ecosystems. Standard: Ferntree Rainforest Lodge
Superior & Boutique: Coconut Beach Rainforest Lodge Day 7: Cape Tribulation Cairns (147km/91miles) Bid farewell to Cape Tribulation and travel south through Port Douglas and the northern beaches before returning to Cairns. Your car has been booked until tomorrow but must be returned no later than the time it was collected on day one.
