Suggested Itineraries If you're not quite sure what travel experience you're looking for, getting started can sometimes be a little daunting. Here are just a few ideas for combinations including Australia. Gre Sydney, Uluru (Ayers Rock) & The Great Barrier Reef 19 Days Sydney - Uluru - Cairns Cairns at B arri Days 1-7: Sydney ­ The Blue Mountains The Sydney, Rock and Reef combination is a classic. These are the icons of Australia and this suggested itinerary is ideal for first timers to the country. Try to spend at least five days in Sydney. If you've pre-booked a performance at Sydney Opera House you'll enjoy world-class entertainment in one of the world's most acclaimed and iconic performance venues. We also recommend you pre-book the Sydney Harbour BridgeClimb which is a must for many visitors and sells out early. Sydney's surrounds are not to be missed with the Blue Mountains so close to the city. Staying overnight here is recommended as a one day trip from Sydney can be tiring. Days 8-13: Uluru (Ayers Rock) & The Red Centre Fly to Uluru (Ayers Rock) Airport. There are a multitude of different touring options and it's important to choose one that suits you. For first time visitors, we recommend the 8 Day Red Centre coach tour. This is modular touring with highlights including an afternoon tour of the outback town of Alice Springs and an enchanting and unforgettable dinner close to the base of Uluru (Ayers Rock) (see page 28). eef er R Uluru Blue Mountains National Park Sydney Days 14-19: Cairns & The Great Barrier Reef The Great Barrier Reef is a must for anyone visiting Australia. Fly to Cairns Airport and you will be transferred to your hotel. Stay in Cairns, Palm Cove or Port Douglas, and you are well placed for day or overnight trips to the Great Barrier Reef. Stay dry, swim, snorkel, or even learn to scuba dive on the Great Barrier Reef and don't miss out on the magic of the Daintree Rainforest. at Gre Indigenous Australia, Great Barrier Reef & The Outback 14 Days Cairns - Uluru - Darwin Days 1-5: Cairns - The Great Barrier Reef With fascinating aboriginal culture to discover across Australia, we have picked some of the best places to gain an insight into indigenous culture as well as taking in some essential `must sees'. On arrival in Cairns transfer to Palm Cove and spend some time enjoying the relaxed resort. Make a visit to the Tjapukai Cultural Park where you will be educated on some of the Aboriginal dreamtime stories with a show of dance and music. Whilst at Cairns, don't miss out on a visit to the Great Barrier Reef where we recommend that you pre-book a reef trip (see page 76). Days 6-9: Alice Springs - Uluru (Ayers Rock) Fly from Cairns to Alice Springs and join a three day tour taking in Kings Canyon and Uluru (see page 108). Marvel at the stark landscape of the outback, see ancient rock engravings and learn about traditional customs and legends. You can also visit the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre and try Dot Painting; learning from the experts, you will see the significance of this style of indigenous art. Tiwi Islands Darwin Karadu Palm Cove Cairns Bar rier f Ree (Ayers Rock) Kings Canyon Uluru Alice Springs Days 10-14: Darwin Arrive in Darwin and join the 2 Day Art and Wildlife Tour (see page 98). Spend time in Kakadu with its abundant wildlife. On this tour by special permission you will be able to walk into Arnhem Land and see some superbly preserved rock art at Ubirr. Please note we offer longer tours of the Top End if time allows (see page 28). After your tour take a day trip, with return flights, to the Tiwi Islands and visit the Aboriginal community of Nguiu on Bathurst Island before leaving Darwin. 10
