Small Group Adventure Touring Arnhem Land, Kakadu & Top End Small Group Adventure Touring 8 Days Darwin to Darwin from £1535 Tour TE08 As an APT Small Group Adventure, this tour operates with a maximum of 20 passengers and offers access to the highlights and the hidden gems of the Northern Territory Top End. 1 Mt. Borradaile Ubirr Darwin 3 Departures: Tues Day 1: Darwin, City Sights On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy an afternoon tour of Darwin. See historical sites including Stokes Hill wharf precinct and the botanic gardens. Later meet your fellow travellers over hosted welcome drinks. Overnight: Saville Pandanas Hotel Day 2: Edith Falls and Katherine Gorge Travel south to Adelaide River, home to Charlie the Buffalo from Crocodile Dundee fame. Enjoy a swim at Edith Falls and finish with a guided dinner cruise on Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge). (BD) Overnight: Katherine, Knotts Crossing Resort Day 3: Kakadu National Park and Gumlon Falls Travel north to the old mining town of Pine Creek and enter Kakadu National Park. Tour deep into Kakadu to Gumlon Falls. Visit Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural centre followed by a sunset cruise on Yellow Waters Billabong. (BD) Overnight: Gagudju Lodge Cooinda. Day 4: Ubirr and Mt Borradaile This morning enjoy an early morning walk. Visit Bowali Visitors Centre then Ubirr World Heritage cultural site, see ancient rock art galleries and take in spectacular views over the wetlands. With special permission from the traditional owners, ford the East Alligator River and travel deep into the Aboriginal reserve of Arnhemland. Overnight: Alice Springs Resort Day 2: Rainbow Valley and Uluru (Ayers Rock) This morning tour to the remote Rainbow Valley area for spectacular views. Tonight view the sunset with drinks and nibbles, followed by a gourmet BBQ dinner close to the base of Ayers Rock. (BD) Overnight: Voyages Desert Gardens Hotel (two nights) Day 3: Uluru and Dot Painting workshop Walk to sacred Kantju Gorge, a quiet waterhole and ancient hunting ground at the foot of the Rock face. Visit the Uluru Cultural Centre and learn about the history, environment and Aboriginal culture. This afternoon join Aboriginal artists and try some dot painting yourself. (B) Day 4: Kata Tjuta & Kings Creek Station Tour to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) and enjoy panoramic views of the Domes and walk into Walpa (Olga Gorge). At Kings Creek, dinner is gourmet Australian cuisine enjoyed around the campfire, under the magnificent stars of the southern sky. (BD) Overnight: King Canyon Wilderness Lodge ­ luxury tented cabin accommodation (two nights) Day 5: Watarrka National Park Enter the Park located at the western end of the George Kata Tjuta (Olga) 2 Rainbow Valley Erldunda Uluru (Ayers Rock) Atila (Mt. Conner) 1 Land No. of nights stayed South Australia Gill Range, it is an important conservation area of central Australia. Learn about the park on an escorted walk of the ridge of Kings Canyon. A less demanding (but unescorted) walk along the creek is also available. With special permission visit an isolated area of the station with evidence of ancient Aboriginal habitation. (BLD) Day 6: Gosse Bluff and Ormiston Gorge Travel along the rugged Mereenie track to Tnorala (Gosse Bluff) Conservation Reserve. Stop at Glen Helen for a short walk to Ormiston Gorge. The region is part of the Western MacDonnell National Park and home to a number of relict plants from a tropical past and endangered wildlife. (B) Overnight: Voyages Alice Springs Resort (two nights) Day 7: Finke Gorge National Park Travel through the Western MacDonnell ranges to Finke Gorge National Park. By 4WD follow and ford the ancient Fink River into Palm Valley, home to a diverse range of plant species,including around 3,000 adult palms found uniquely in this area. (BL) Day 8: Depart Alice Springs Enjoy a morning at leisure before transferring to the airport.
