Day 1: Sydney Coffs Harbour Depart Sydney early for a scenic drive past the picturesque Hawkesbury River then north through scenic New South Wales countryside to Coffs Harbour, surrounded by banana plantations. (FD) Overnight: Coffs Harbour, Novotel Pacific Bay Resort. Day 2: Coffs Harbour Byron Bay Brisbane Travel through Grafton to Byron Bay, famous for its relaxing lifestyle and idyllic climate. Nearby, Cape Byron marks the most easterly point on the Australian mainland. Continue on to Brisbane and enjoy a tour of Queensland's capital city. Its mix of old and new architecture, tropical climate and historical heritage gives it a laid-back appeal. (B) Overnight: Brisbane, Royal on the Park. Day 3: Sunshine Coast Fraser Island 11 Day (CN11) passengers join the tour in Brisbane this morning. Journey north passing the Glass House Mountains on your way to the late Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo, where crocodiles are the main attraction. Travel on to Hervey Bay for your transfer to Fraser Island. (BD) Overnight: Fraser Island, Kingfisher Bay Resort (two nights) Day 4: Fraser Island - Freedom of Choice Explore with our Freedom of Choice options. Beach to Maheno Shipwreck and Eli Creek, or tour the inlets and rainforest of the island, visiting Lake McKenzie. Alternatively, join a humpback whale watching cruise (seasonal). Tonight, enjoy a delicious local BBQ. (BFD) Day 5: Fraser Island Rockhampton Look out for humpback whales (AugustOctober) as you cruise back to the mainland. Continue north, crossing the Tropic of Capricorn on the way to Rockhampton. (BD) Overnight: Rockhampton, Travelodge. Henderson Park Farmstay Option: Stay overnight at a working cattle station (prices on request) Day 6: Rockhampton Hamilton Island Begin the day with a visit to a working cattle station, before passing through the sugar town of Mackay en-route to Airlie Beach and your short cruise to fabulous Hamilton Island. This evening is free to explore the island's Marina Village and sample some of its cosmopolitan cuisines. (B) Overnight: Hamilton Island Resort, Reef View Hotel (two nights) Day 7: Hamilton Island - Day at Leisure Awaken to the Whitsundays' azure waters and sandy beaches from your room. Spend your day at leisure, choosing from over 40 different activities offered on the island. Relax by one of the 7 luxurious pools, wander the shops down at the marina or take a day trip out to the pristine Whitehaven Beach (own expense). (BD) Day 8: Hamilton Island Townsville Dunk Island Say farewell to Hamilton Island as you cruise through the Whitsundays to Shute Harbour. Continue north via the mango-growing region of Bowen to Townsville and on to the hidden paradise of Mission Beach. On arrival, transfer to Dunk Island, a national park and one of the most beautiful Great Barrier Reef Islands. (BD) Overnight: Dunk Island Resort (two nights) Day 9: Dunk Island Today's activities on Dunk Island are up to you. Perhaps join a guided nature walk to view the array of orchids and native flowers, take a stroll through tropical rainforest and search for the Blue Ulysses butterfly, walk to the highest peak, Mt. Kootaloo, or take a glass-bottom boat cruise to view the spectacular Great Barrier Reef (own expense). (FB) Day 10: Dunk Island Atherton Tablelands Port Douglas Return to the mainland and journey via the picturesque Atherton Tablelands to Millaa Millaa Falls and the unique Curtain Fig Tree. Continue north to the golden, palmfringed beaches of Port Douglas. (FBD) Overnight: Port Douglas, Mantra Treetops Resort.
Day 11: Great Barrier Reef Cairns - Freedom Of Choice Today, explore the Great Barrier Reef your way, at no extra cost to you. Choose from three exciting Quicksilver cruises, all including a delicious lunch on board and offering full bar facilities. Cruise to the Outer Reef on the 45-metre `Wavepiercer' and dive or snorkel the clear waters or view the marine life from the semi-sub. Alternatively, go sailing on the `Wavedancer', a 30-metre luxury catamaran, and cruise the Coral Sea before mooring at Low Isles for a host of reef activities. Your third option is to board the magnificent `Silversonic', for an exciting day of snorkelling and discovery on the remote outer reef. (BFL) Overnight: Cairns, Rydges Tradewinds Hotel (two nights) Day 12: Cairns and Kuranda Journey aboard the Kuranda Scenic Railway up to Rainforestation where you will be treated by the Pamagirri Aboriginal Dancers. Later traverse the Kuranda Skyrail, and glide just meters above the rainforest canopy, passing the lush Cairns Highlands and waterfalls as we journey down the range. This evening enjoy our special Farewell Dinner at Cairns Night Zoo. (BFD) Day 13: Cairns Free time to catch up on some last-minute shopping before your transfer to Cairns airport. (B)
