Suggested Rail Australia Itineraries Queenslander Class Island Explorer 8 Days The Whitsunday Islands - Brisbane, The Sunlander & Tilt Train Days 1-4: Daydream Island Resort & Spa, The Whitsundays Daydream Island Resort & Spa is a fun resort offering an affordable island experience for couples and families alike. This is a great base for exploring the Whitsunday Islands on the Great Barrier Reef. Complete with its own 44-foot outdoor movie cinema, man-made outdoor aquarium, and world-class health spa, there really is something for everyone. We recommend at least a three night stay to make the most of the region, take a trip to the reef, visit Whitehaven Beach and relax before your onward journey. Day 4: Queenslander Class on The Sunlander On the evening of day 4, commence your journey to Brisbane. The easiest way to do this is with a transfer to Airlie Beach and then by coach to Prosperpine where you can board The Sunlander train. You will travel overnight (14hrs) and we recommend that you choose Queenslander Class where you will be accommodated in a premium twin berth sleeping compartment. You will also receive the highest levels of service from the dedicated team of onboard personnel. Finally, with Queenslander class you will also be treated to tantalising meals prepared by an experienced onboard chef. Days 5-7: Kingfisher Bay Resort, Fraser Island Arrive in Maryborough West this morning and transfer to Hervey Bay to meet the noon launch to Fraser Island. Kingfisher Bay Resort is your accommodation for two nights, a delightful property surrounded by bush and wildlife. Take your pick of guided tours, nature walks, bush tucker tasting and much more. Day 8: Tilt Train to Brisbane Transfer back to Hervey Bay and then Maryborough West to recommence your rail journey to Brisbane aboard the Tilt Train (3.5hrs). Outback Camping & Rail Adventure 10 Days Darwin Adelaide, The Ghan Day 1: Darwin - Alice Springs The legendary Ghan makes the epic journey through the Red Centre and is an experience in itself. Board The Ghan to begin the ultimate journey through the heart of Australia. You will be surrounded by the tropical splendour of the Top End to begin with and then the landscape changes as you near Katherine by early afternoon. There are Whistle Stop Touring opportunities to choose from here, including a Katherine Gorge cruise or heli flight, canoeing or a coach tour. When you re-board, it's on to Alice Springs overnight. We recommend Gold Service on board The Ghan, which includes compact sleeper accommodation, restaurant car dining and complimentary tea & coffee. Days 2-9: Alice Springs & The Red Centre Awake to the Red Centre landscape on the morning of day 2 before arriving in Alice Springs. Disembark The Ghan and transfer to your hotel for a two night stay in Alice Springs before joining the 5 Day Red Centre 4WD Safari. This is hassle-free camping in permanent campsites and you will explore Uluru (Ayers Rock), Kata Tjuta (The Olgas), Kings Canyon and the Western MacDonnell Ranges before heading back to Alice Springs. Overnight in Alice Springs on your return for a further for two nights and don't miss out on hot air ballooning over the stunning red earth before you leave. Day 10: Alice Springs - Adelaide Depart the Red Centre on board The Ghan for the final leg of your journey. Enjoy your overnight journey and watch as the Red Centre turns to fertile countryside surrounding Adelaide where you will arrive around lunch time. (BL) South Australia Rail & Wildlife Journey 11 Days Sydney Perth, The Indian Pacific Days 1-2: Sydney Adelaide The Indian Pacific departs Sydney to traverse the continent from east to west. The start of the journey is particularly beautiful. Travel through the Blue Mountains and you will see fascinating scenery en route. Days 3-8: Explore Adelaide & Beyond After staying overnight in Adelaide, we recommend starting your wildlife experience straight away with our 3 Night Murray River Wetlands Discovery Cruise. The birdlife along the great stretch of river is amazing and a guided nature walk and wildlife tours are included when you choose this tour. Return to Adelaide for one more night before flying to Kangaroo Island as part of the Essential Kangaroo Island.
