Terms & Conditions
Driver Qualifications: All drivers must be 21 years of age or over, and have held a current British or international driving licence for a minimum of a year. Hirers must be 25 years or over when hiring full size or 4WD vehicles. Under-25 Surcharge: Renters from 21-24 years will be subject to a surcharge of $27.50 per day to a maximum of $192.50 per rental (paid direct to Avis locally). Additional Driver: No charge. Rental Period: Rates are calculated in 24-hour periods. Additional hour/daily rate is to be paid locally. Multiple Hire: When you hire more than one vehicle during your holiday in Australia, you can use the cumulative rental days to determine the rate payable. Each rental must be over two days to qualify. Driving Restrictions: Insurance will be void when driving in prohibited areas (including Outback tracks or any road north of Cape Tribulation) or in dangerous conditions (including beaches, above the snow line and when crossing rivers and floodwaters). Different restrictions apply to 4WD vehicles please ask for full details. Vehicles may not be taken between Tasmania and the mainland, or onto any of Australia's islands (including Fraser and Kangaroo islands).

Kilometre Allowance: Unlimited kilometres are included at all metropolitan and `country' locations across Australia, and at all rental locations within the Northern Territory. At locations classed as `remote' outside the Northern Territory, 100 km per day is included, with the excess charged at 27.5c per km. Popular `remote' locations include Broken Hill, Broome, and Carnarvon please ask for full details. All 4WD vehicles include 200kms per day, excess charged at 16.5c per kilometre. Collision (Loss) Damage Waiver (CDW/LDW): Subject to excess, see table below. State Stamp Duty: Variable in each state up to 2%. Goods and Service Tax (GST): 10% Australian GST applies to all prepaid charges.

For many popular routes, e.g. Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast, Cairns to Port Douglas and within Tasmania, no one-way rental charge is payable. Vehicle Registration Fee (VFR): This fee applies to all vehicles from all depots, for any duration. The charge is approx. $5 per day and is payable locally. Concession Recovery Fee (CRF): At most Australian airports a recovery fee is payable. The charge is approximately 15% of the total rental charge. Payable locally. Miscellaneous Items: Baby seats, ski racks etc.

Excess and Excess Reduction Fee (ER): An authority against your credit card will be taken for the full excess amount, AU$2750 - your maximum liability in the event of loss or damage to the vehicle. This is fully refundable should no damage occur and can be reduced to AU$385 by paying the Excess Reduction Fee of AU$22 per day. For 4WD vehicles excess is $5500 which can be reduced to $1100 by paying the Excess Reduction Fee of $33 per day. Petrol Bond: Petrol is not included. A fee of $100 will be
